3D Cross for Easter Cards

With Easter only a few weeks away you are probably making beautiful cards for friends and family.  Paper Smooches has a unique die set called 3D Cross that features 2 crosses which once die cut and mounted one on top of the other, create a cross with a dimensional look.  But the set doesn't stop there.  It also includes another cross, feather, butterfly, 3 flowers, greenery and a small heart!  Here's a look at the set:

3D-Cross-die-setLet me share with you the samples I made with this set. For this card I used many of the dies in the set to make the wreath surrounding the cross. 3D-Cross

On the next card the 3D cross is set amidst a spray of pale blue and yellow flowers on very pretty decorative paper.Peace-and-happiness3D Cross Peace – Paper Smooches die 3D Cross; Paper Smooches clear stamp set Easter Blessings

I created the wooden cross on this next card by die cutting the crosses and the "blessed" sentiment from paper embossed with a wood grain effect.  Once die cut, I colored the paper using dark brown colored pencil which brought out the wood grain of the paper.  The spray of white flowers and greenery was die cut with other dies in the set.  I mounted the cross on a piece of white cardstock embossed with Taylored Expressions' embossing folder "Weathered."  This background was then die cut with Memory Box's Wrapped Stitched Rectangles.Peace-and-happiness3D Cross Blessed – Paper Smooches dies 3D Cross and Religious Words; Memory Box die Wrapped Stitched Rectangles

I used pretty pastel papers for the crosses on this card and mounted it on an embossed background.

My favorite card?  A pretty yellow shaker!  I stamped the very pretty Petite Petals background in Versamark on yellow cardstock and heat embossed it in clear.  I die cut the oval opening and die cut a piece of fun foam to create the "well" for the sequin filler.  Next I stamped the Hello Spring Bubble Greeting on acetate with Versamark ink and heat embossed it in white.  Here are two important tips for stamping and embossing on acetate.  First, be sure to treat the acetate surface with an anti-static powder tool (we sell the EK Success tool and it's great!).  And second, be sure to hold the heat tool well above the surface (about 10" to 12") so the heat does not buckle the acetate.Hoppy-Easter-piecedHello Spring Shaker – Taylored Expressions stamp set Bubble Greetings Spring; TE die Stitched Ovals; TE stamp Petite Petals Background; design inspired by Noriko Fairchild

I am not quite sure why this photo is a little fuzzy looking.  The background paper is new from Lawn Fawn and it is so bright and colorful.  The white daisies are so reminiscent of spring.  Here are the products I used on this card:  Lawn Fawn dies Little Flowers and Thanks Line Border; Taylored Expressions die Open Scallop Border and Stitched Rectangles; design inspired by Kelly Marie Alvarez

The new Quilted Backdrop is a real favorite of mine.  The tiny four-petal flowers pop out when die cut and the openings reveal the paper behind the die.  It's so pretty and delicate and perfect for spring.  Thanks So Much – Lawn Fawn dies Little Flowers and Quilted Backdrop; Taylored Expressions dies Banner Day 1 (with coordinating stamps) and Frame in Frame 2; design inspired by Lizzy Criman

Hopping Down the Bunny Trail

It's hard to believe that Easter is only a few short weeks away. Today I will share with you samples using a cute set of stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions called "Bunny Tails and Happy Trails."  There's nothing not to love about this set, but what I particularly like is the "road to recovery" sentiment which is perfect for cards for people recovering from an illness or surgery.  Plus this set is also perfect for slider cards which are really popular right now.  And the little critters are so cute you will use them all year.

For this first card I used partial die cutting to cut semicircle from a white cardstock panel.  Behind the panel I used Distress inks to sponge a sky.  I stamped and die cut the little critters and lined them along the bottom of the semicircle.  A few sequins adds a little sparkle to the card and I love how you can color in the word "treat" on the sentiment.Easter-TreatEaster Treat – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE dies Stitched Circles and Sitting Pretty Spring Accessories (carrot); design inspired by Gayatri Murali

For my next card I pulled out the very, very old Memory Box die "Fringe Border."  I cut the "grass" with this die and layered the "On The Road" track above it.  The little critters are all line dup on the track while the rolling clouds hang in the sky above.  I left the "Hello" uncolored but it certainly could be colored is you like. Hello-Spring-Fringe-BorderHello Spring Fringe Border – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE dies Build A Scene -- On the Road, Build A Scene – Rolling Clouds, Frame in Frame; Memory Box Fringe Border; design inspired by Stephanie Kraft

The Rolling Clouds from the card above become a green belt in this next card. The Rolling Clouds die is a set of three different cloud banks and I used two different cuts for the green belt.  I also embossed one of the die cuts with the Cloudy Days embossing folder.Hello-Spring-GreenHello Spring Green – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE dies Build A Scene -- On the Road, Build A Scene – Rolling Clouds, Door to Door Spring Décor;  TE embossing folder Cloudy Days; design inspired by Courtney Kelley

All the critters make an appearance on this sunny yellow card.  The On the Road die set includes both a curved and a straight track as well as companion dies to cut the backgrouond color (on this card white).

Hello-Spring-Yellow-CardHello Spring Yellow – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE die Build A Scene -- On the Road;  design inspired by Jean Manis

Here's the first card with the Road to Recovery sentiment.  It's sure to make the recipient chuckle. Recovery-Orange-TruckRecovery Orange Truck – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE die Build A Scene -- On the Road;  design inspired by Kim Singdahlsen

On this card I colored in the word "trip" to give it some increased presence. Recovery-Red-TruckRecovery Red Truck – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; design inspired by Gayatri Murali

How fun slider cards are!  Taylored Expressions desiged their slider die set to coordinate with the On the Road tracks.  Unfortunately I didn't have that set when I made this card so I used the Lawn Fawn set which matched the track pretty well.  Here are the steps to make a slider card (ignoring the rest of the layout on the card):

1.  Cut the slider opening in the focal panel.

2.  On the reverse side of this panel, place two layers of foam tape around the perimeter.

3.  Cut 2 rectangles of foam tape that will fit inside the slider opening.  Mount these rectangles on a penny.  Use the EK SuccessPowder Tool to pounce the edges of the foam tape so that the tape will not stick to the slider opening.

3.  Turn the card over and remove the release paper from the top of the foam tape and adhere the critter to the penny.

4.  Test your slider -- it should slide freely.

5.  Remove all the release paper from the foam tape and adhere the focal panel to the card.

Recovery-SliderRecovery Slider – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE dies Stitched Cloud Duo, Build A Scene -- Trees and Build A Scene – On the Road; Lawn Fawn die Slide on Over; design inspired by Jen Shults

I love this "sending smiles" sentiment too!  It's so perfect with the little critter and the track.  And the little puffs of smoke add another cute element. Smiles-Red-TruckSending Smiles Red Truck – Taylored Expressions stamp and matching dies Bunny Tails and Happy Trails; TE dies Little Bits Sun and Clouds, Build A Scene – On the Road and Stitched Rectangles; design inspired by Jen Shults

I am so into this color combination.  And the large cloud die is one I don't use often but it's perfect for matting the sentiment. Bunny Pop

Remember the Reindeer Pop from Christmas?  Now we've got the Bunny Pop and he is soooo clever.  The set comes with the Bunny, a plain circle and a scalloped circle.  I cut the bunnies from off white card stock then stamped them with the Notable Blooms background in Versamark and embossed them in clear.  I cut the scalloped circle with the plain circle to create an opening then cut fun foam with the two circle dies to form a barrier for the shaker card.  I added jelly beans in one and sequins in the other.  Each bunny is mounted on the Tagging Along box that can be filled with jelly beans and easter eggs!Blue-PurpleBlue & Purple Bunnies – Taylored Expressions die Bunny Pop; TE Background stamp Notable Blooms; TE dies Tags Stacklets 1 and Tagging Along; TE stamp and die combo Full of Beans; TE Sequins Pretty Pastels; design inspired by Noriko Fairchild

Cards with Spanish Greetings

Hello fellow papercrafters.  I love making card sets for gifts and for Christmas I made my housekeeper a set of cards with Spanish greetings.  I want to share the cards with you, but I have since discovered that the set I used has been discontinued.  I do have a new set of Spanish sentiments in stock so let me share that set with you first.

This Stampendous set with many sentiments in a beautiful script is $16.59.

SSC1204In addition to this set of stamps, I have three dies with Spanish words:

The Sizzix single word die "gracias" is $7.59.

Sizzix-graciasThis set includes the die "feliz cumpleanos" and a corner die along with several word stamps in Spanish. ($15.99).

The following cards use a similar layout.  I stamped the background paper in Versamark for a tone on tone look then to make it the background standout more, I embossed the stamped images in clear embossing powder.  The focal image was cut from black cardstock and mounted on a Lacey Circle die cut.  Some black ribbon and the Spanish greeting complete the card.

New Merchandise in Stock

Hello Friends and fellow papercrafters.  The weather is warming and spring and Easter cannot be far away.  But before Easter arrives with bunnies, chicks and eggs galore, let me share with you some cards I made using some of the new merchandise that's recently arrived at the Stamp Act.

We have tons of new merchandise in stock from all our favorite companies.  New dies and stamps and papers from Memory Box, Poppystamps, Impression Obsession, Taylored Expressions and many more.  We've got new stamps and dies from Deadbeat Designs featuring Texas and Bluebonnets; beautiful new pastel "springy"papers and unique and fun dies from Lawn Fawn; plus very soon we will be carrying the Misti stamp Positioner so don't order one on line -- come here and learn all about how to use it to its fullest.

The Square (Ornate or Lacey) Frame from Impression Obsession is so pretty and makes a perfect backdrop for some of the other new (or nearly new) dies from IO.

For my first card I cut the frame from purple cardstock and the interior embellishment piece (comes with the frame) from white cardstock.  I adhered these pieces to a white card using foam tape.  Next I cut the IO die Lily Trio from green and purple card gluing these together then adhering them on top of the frame.  This is such a pretty card that's very quick and easy. Purple-Lily-TrioPurple Lily Trio – Impression Obsession dies Square Ornate Frame and Lily Trio; design inspired by Kitty Caracciolo

For my second card I switched the color palette to white on purple and placed the beautiful new die Garden Bird inside the frame.Purple-Lily-TrioGarden Bird – Impression Obsession dies Square Ornate Frame and Garden Bird; design inspired by Kitty Caracciolo

Need a wedding card?  This one is perfect!  On a silver metallic folding card I placed the square frame cut from white shimmery card and filled it with the Songbird Branch die.  I cut two of the Songbird Branch and mounted a second pair of birds over the birds and added extra foliage to give the focal image a fuller look. Wedding-OutsideWedding Card 1 – Impression Obsession dies Square Ornate Frame and Songbird Branch; design inspired by Kitty Caracciolo

Inside the card I cut another Songbird Branch from silver and positioned it across the top of the mats cut with Spellbinders Labels 1.  The lovely sentiment is from a wedding stamp set from Taylored Expressions.

Wedding-OutsideWedding Card 2 – Taylored Expressions stamp set In & Out Wedding; Impression Obsession die Songbird Branch; Spellbinders Labels 1; design inspired by Kitty Caracciolo

My last card from Impression Obsession features the Songbird Branch die too.  I guess I still had weddings on the mind when I made this an anniversary card.  I cut the Songbirds from white cardstock and watercolored them using Memento markers.  I sponged the blue sky background (Memento ink Summer Sky) and framed the birds with rectangle frame die from IO. Songbirds-AnniversaryHappy Anniversary – Impression Obsession dies 6-in-1 Rectangle Frames and Songbird Branch; Hero Arts sentiment; design inspire by Kitty Caracciolo

These pierced hearts from Taylored Expressions are so versatile.  Here I used them to make a simple card that I intend to use as a thank you for one of my neighbors. I die cut the white cardstock with the Stitched Squares then with two of the Pierced Hearts (there are 5 in the set).  I then cut one of the Stitched Hearts (coordinates with the Pierced set) from the lighter pink and placed it behind the smaller pierced heart to carry on the two-tone pink color theme.  To complete the card I stamped the "You're So" words and die cut the "Sweet Script" and mounted them inside the hearts.  Pierced-Hearts

So Sweet – Taylored Expressions dies Pierced Hearts, Stitched Hearts and Script Sweet; TE stamp set How Sweet It Is; Memory Box die Stitched Squares; design inspired by Kim Singdahlsen

Here's another card using the same wording and a yummy cupcake! You're-So-Sweet-CupcakeYou’re So Sweet – Taylored Expressions dies Sweet Script and Little Bits Cupcake; TE stamp set How Sweet It Is

Pretty, colorful and very springy, this next card uses lots of fun new dies from Taylored Expressions.  Look closely and you'll see the blue sky is embossed with the Raindrops embossing folder.  A colorful rainbow and umbrella take center stage and the sentiment is perfect sentiment for sending encouragement to a friend.  RainbowRainbow – Taylored Expressions dies Rainbow, When It Rains Umbrella, Stitched Cloud Duo and Build-A-Scene Rolling Clouds; TE stamp set Rain or Shine; TE embossing folder Raindrops; design inspired by Jean Manis

While you may not think of Saint Patrick's Day as a card sending occasion, Taylored Expressions' new "Shake Your Shamrock" set makes a wonderful friendship card.  With this set you stamp all 9 shamrocks (in 3 different patterns) at once then die cut them with one die so making lots of shamrocks is super fast.  I love the inside sentiment!Shamrock-outside

Shamrock – Taylored Expressions stamp and die combo set Shake Your Shamrock; TE dies Stitched Banners 1 and Stitched Rectangles; design inspired by Kim Singdahlsen

Another set of new dies that recently arrived are the Stitching Circle and Stitching Square from Paper Smooches.  I have not had time to play with these a lot, but here are two samples I made.  The die cuts cardstock and then you stitch whatever pattern you want on the "canvas." I adore the snowman -- I cut the square from kraft cardstock then cross stitched the snowman and the white frame.  The sentiment is also from Paper Smooches.SnowmanFor the rose I was following a pattern I found on line (there are tons of free patterns), but then I started improvising to fit the space.  The rose is framed with an embroidery hoop die from Paper Smooches too.

Free Valentine Make and Take

Free Valentine Make and Take

Valentine's Day is next week and I have created both funny and elegant Valentine Make and Takes just for you!  Join me Thursday through Saturday, February 8-10, 10am to 4pm and Wednesday, February 14, 10am to 4pm.  You may choose to make any one of the Valentine's Day cards shown below plus a customized envelope!  And it's free!  These cards are perfect for your honey, your friends or your co-workers.  My funny Valentines are created with Taylored Expressions Foodie Friends stamps and matching dies.  I stamped the image, colored it with Copic markers then cut it out with the matching die.  Each stamp has a funny greeting for the insde of the card.

For each of the cards above I diecut the bracket notecard, stamped a background (TE Brushed Hearts or Luv-a-Doodle) then stamped, colored and cut out the focal image.

For my elegant Valentine, I stamped the large heart from the Memory Box Wirework Heart set in Versafine Black ink on white shimmer cardstock then embossed it in clear.  I die cut the center of the heart with one of the hearts from the Memory Box Have a Heart die set.  Next I colored the die using the Clarity Stencil Brushes and dye inks.  Love these brushes!!!  See more samples using the Clarity Brushes below.

I matted the colored heart on one of the hearts from the Memory Box Wrapped Stitch Hearts set. To finish the card I stamped one of the sentiments included in the Wirework Heart set on cardstock cut with the one of the Taylored Expressions Double Ended Flags.  This greeting was also embossed in clear.  Simple yet elegant.

More Samples with Wirework Heart Set from Memory Box

Here's a photo of the Wireworks Heart stamp set.  It includes several hearts, flowers and sentiments. For a video tutorial on coloring and shrinking the heart, you can see Dave Brethauer, owner of Memory Box, here.

Stamp-setFor my first sample I stamped the largest heart and colored it with Copic markers.

Hello FriendFor this sample I stamped the large heart in black permanent ink on sanded shrink plastic then colored it with Prismacolor colored pencils.  Then I cut it out (with scissors, not a die) and shrank the heart.  I mounted it on a mat cut with one of the Memory Box Wrapped Stitched Hearts.  The border is cut with Poppystamps die Petit Four Border and the "loved" sentiment is die cut with Taylored Expressions Loved Script die.
Hello Friend
These next two cards are done exactly the same way.  The first card with Copics on white cardstock and the second card with colored pencils on shrink plastic. The Happy Valentines sentiment is from Poppystamps and the dot border die is from Paper Smooches.

More Samples with Clarity Brushes and Mandala Die from Taylored Expressions

Mandalas are very trendy and this full card size Mandala die is beautiful and versatile.  The die cuts the Mandala and the frame. MandalacuttingplateFor this first card I die cut the Mandala from turquoise cardstock and left most of the pieces in the die cut.  I think it makes a dramatic focal image.  I embellished the image with clear Nuvo enamel drops and a sentiment (TE Spring Florals). Design inspired by Regina Mangum.

Hello-SpringNext I cut the Mandala from white cardstock and colored it with dye inks and an ink blending tool.  The Hello (TE Script Hello) is cut twice and glued together for extra dimension, and the "friend" word is from TE's Friendly Phrases.  It is cut with TE's Double Ended Flags die. Design inspired by Melody Rupple.
Hello-Spring Now to show you how I colored with the Clarity Stencil brushes. For this card I die cut both the Mandala and a background from white shimmer cardstock.  Then I used the brushes to apply the ink in a rainbow effect, overlapping the colors. The brushes give the background a soft and shimmery look that is really beautiful. (Design inspired by Jen Schults) The sentiment is from TE's In & out Get Well stamp set.

Love-and-HugsFor my last card, I cut the Mandala from black cardstock and the background from white cardstock.  I applied the colors (dye inks) with the Clarity Brushes. Holy Cow! The Cows Are Talking!

Hello friends and Happy New Year.  I hope your holidays were very happy.  I enjoyed my holiday vacation tremendously; my sister and her family were here and we had a great time visiting and exchanging presents.

The new year brings the big CHA Creativation show where all our favorite papercrafting vendors release new products. I've heard there are some exciting new things coming, but in the meantime many companies have already released new collections and I've ordered and received a lot of new merchandise.  Stop in and see what's new and exciting!

Retiring ...

I loved being off at Christmas so much that I have decided to take Tuesdays off in addition to Sundays and Mondays.  So The Stamp Act will have the following hours:

Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

Wednesday - Saturday ... open 10am to 5pm

If you need to shop before or after these hours, please contact me via email (hellopolly@aol.com) or phone (915-833-9500) and I will try to accomodate your schedule.

The Cows are Talking

Taylored Expressions stamp/die combo set called "If Cows Could Talk" is so cute and fun!  I made a series of cards using this set.  Enjoy!  Be sure to scroll through the cards to see how to make the cloud border that I used on several of the cards.

Making a Cloud Border

It's easy to make a very realistic cloud border when you use Taylored Expressions' Cloud Border die (pictured below).  You can use the die to cut a cloud border for your card, or cut a cloud border to use as a template for sponging clouds on your card. Cloudborder_3Here's a link to a video showing you exactly how to use the border.

Valentine's Day is one month away

We have lots of heart products for all your Valentine's Day cards.  Remember, this day is a great time to make cards for friends too.  Our products range from cute and funny to pretty and elegant to clever and unique.  Stop in soon and see what's new at The Stamp Act!

Two Dies Three Ways

Hello friends and Merry Christmas!  Today I would like to share with you how to use your dies creatively to make cards that are essentially variations on a theme.  My first card uses the Merry Christmas Background from Memory Box.  We have a similiar die from Lil Inker Designs that would work well too.  This die cuts out the background panel and the letters that spell Merry Christmas in different fonts.  You can cut the die from any color cardstock or it's perfect for the beautiful glitter paper we have in stock right now.

Here are ways to use the background panel and the letters:

  • Layer the background over colored cardstock or glitter paper
  • Place Scor tape (double sided tape) across one or more words on the back of the background and insert letters cut from a third color cardstock or glitter paper on the front of the background.
  • Add a die cut icon such as the fir tree or the ornament.

Warning: Cutting these backgrounds can be addictive!  Once you cut the background from one color cardstock or glitter paper, you wll want to cut it from another color to contrast with the first color.  This means you will have a pile of red letters, for instance, and need another background for these.  And on and on!

Let's look at some examples of these different treatments.

Xmas-Bkgrd-blackFor this card I first cut the background from black cardstock.  If you're thinking "black for Christmas?"  YES!  It is very dramatic and plays very well with traditional Christmas colors of red, gold and silver.  Next I cut the background from red glitter paper and placed scor tape on the back of the black background across the words I wanted to highlight.  I inserted the red letters on the front of the background and mounted the black background on gold glitter paper.  Card done!

For the next card, I took the background I cut from red glitter paper (above) and placed it over a white card.  I cut the background again from gold glitter paper and using the technique outlined above, inserted them into the background as shown on the card below.  I cut a fir tree from green glitter paper and mounted it with foam tape to the left side of the card.  Note:  Be sure to cut your additional focal image (tree, ornament, etc) first and place it on your background to determine spacing and which words you want to highlight.

Xmas-Bkgrd-redFor the final card (below) I used more of the red glitter paper letters on a white on white background.  I "hung" the ornament from the christmas word.

Xmas-Bkgrd-whiteCan you see how you can go on and on with the different colored backgrounds and letters?  There's no stopping!

For my next set of cards I used the Memory Box Poinsettia Band die.  Here's the first card:

Poinsettia-Band-GoldI used black again for the background on a white card.  I cut the Poinsettia band from gold glitter paper then from silver glitter paper.  The die cuts the outline of the petals and the petals separately so I adhered a thin strip of foam tape to the middle of each gold petal and inserted them back into the silver petal outlines which I had glued to the back mat.  To complete the card I die cut the Wishing You Manuscript die from gold glitter paper and adhered it to the bottom of the card.

Merry-ChristmasInside the card I die cut Merry Christmas from silver and mounted it on black then gold.

You can easily make a second card using the die cuts you have left over.  Your second poinsettia will be silver petals in a gold outline.

For my next card I cut the poinsettia clear of the attached band and used the Memory Box Grosgrain Ribbon die to cut gold glitter paper to place behind the poinsettia.  I cut the poinsettia from both red shiny cardstock and gold glitter paper then inserted the red petals in the gold outline and mounted the gold petals with foam tape on top and to the right of each red petal.

Poinsettia-Band-Red-GoldA sentiment from Penny Black's Holiday Snippets and an enamel dot complete the card.

For the third card in this series I used the same colors (in the reverse) and both poinsettias cut free from the band.  I cut the Grosgrain Ribbon die twice from red glitter paper and placed the ribbons to look like a package.  The tag was cut with an MFT Tag die and the sentiment is from a Poppystamps Christmas set.

Poinsettia-Band-Red-GoldI hope this little tutorial ahs given you some ideas for using your dies creatively in trios!

Holiday Hours

The Stamp Act will be closed from Monday, December 18 through Monday, January 1.  We will reopen on Tuesday, January 2.  Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Cards

There's no denying it ... Christmas will be here before we know it!  So I thought I would share with you several cards that showcase new dies and stamps as well as some exciting new glitter paper we have in stock.  We have both 12" x 12" with adhesive on the back and 8.5" x 11" without adhesive.  Colors include reds, golds, white, silver, royal blue, lighter blue and green.  The holidays are a perfect time to up your game and include glitter paper in your card layouts.

My first card is created with a cute snowman with stripes.  I added the large "merry" at the bottom of the card and cut a hill for the snowman to stand on.  I added a little glitter glue on the top of the hill.  This same die can be used as a slider card by inserting a panel behind the snowman that can be pulled up to reveal a photo of another stamped or die cut image.  Watch this video by Memory Box for lots of ideas.

Snowman-PanelSnowman Panel – Memory Box dies Snowman Panel, Make Merry and Snowman Heart Collage; design inspired by Laura Fulcher

I love this next snowman because he's all heart!  I cut the snowman heart from white cardstock then mounted it over red glitter paper.  Adding a few holly leaves and berries adds a pop of color.

Snowman-HeartHeart Snowman – Memory Box die Snowman Heart Collage; Poppystamps clear stamp set Christmas Greetings; Impression Obsession die Twig Wreath (holly); Taylored Expressions die Double Ended Flag Stacklets; design inspired by Laura Fulcher

Here's a really gorgeous die -- Impression Obsession's Reindeer Flourish.  I cut it from gold glitter paper and mounted it over a background cut with Lawn Fawn's Snowy Background.  Behind the background I placed white glitter paper.  Finally the deer needed to be grounded so I added some hills cut with Poppysyamps stitched landscape dies. Reindeer-Flourish-GlitterReindeer Flourish Blue – Impression Obsession die Reindeer Flourish; Poppystamps die Stitched Landscapes; Lawn Fawn die Backdrop Snowy; Penny Black die World of Wishes

This card is by Harriet Head.  Please click on it so you can see all the details she added.  First she cut the reindeer from white cardstock and mounted the negative space over some beautiful Penny Black paper.  Then she die cut white ornaments and hung them from the deer's antlers.  So creative!!  And don't miss the red nose!  Thanks Harriet.

Reindeer-Flourish-H3Reindeer Flourish Green – Impression Obsession die Reindeer Flourish; design by Harriet Head

This card is so bright and shiny it will "hurt your eyes!"  I cut the large pine tree from silver glitter paper and the birds from three colors of felt.  The background was cut with the new Memory Box Wrapped Stitched Rectangles and I love the "messy stitching" this die cuts into the panel. Glitter-Tree-BirdsSilver Glitter Tree – Poppystamps die Grand Pine Tree; Memory Box dies Wrapped Stitch Rectangles and Resting Birds; Poppystamps clear stamp set Christmas Greetings; design inspired by Jean Okimoto

Here's a very quick and easy card.  I cut the Horse Sleigh Landscape from white and mounted it atop an embosssed blue background.  The sentiment is from a Kaisercraft combo set of stamps and dies.  I added a star and the card was done. Santa-SleighSanta Sleigh – Memory Box dies Horse Sleigh Landscape and Star of Wonder; Taylored Expressions embossing folder Winter Flurry; Kaisercraft stamp/die combo set Christmas; design inspired by Jean Manis

You have to love this little Santa.  The Lil Inker Designs set includes all the dies for assembling Santa as well as a number of stamps including sentiments and facial features.  I used the boot dies to make the hands.Santa-Says-WhatSanta Says What? – Lil Inkers Design Stamp/die combo set Santa; Lil Inkers Design die Stitched Sentiment Flag; Impression Obsession die Ho Ho Ho; Impression Obsession die Twig Wreath (holly); Taylored Expressions embossing folder Brick

This is a fun card.  The Merry Christmas Channel die cuts the channel with the words in one pass.  (FYI: the card is 5" x 5.5").  Once I cut the channel, I colored the words with Copic markers and mounted acetate on the inside of the card.  I embellished the card with icons cut with the new Taylored Expressions die set Sitting Pretty Holiday Accessories. Merry-Xmas-ChannelMerry Christmas Channel – Memory Box die Merry Christmas Channel; Taylored Expressions die Sitting Pretty Holiday Accessories

This a very impressive card with multiple layers -- but it's really a quick one.  I stamped the Woodgrain Background on kraft cardstock in Toffee ink.  Then I die cut an oval frame from gold cardstock and an oval from kraft.  I mounted the gold frame on the kraft oval, stamped the sentiment then added a die cut nativity scene.  Finally I added some holly leaves and berries for color. True-Meaning-NativityTrue Meaning Nativity – Taylored Expressions die Nativity; TE stamps Woodgrain Background and Rejoice set; TE stamps and dies Holiday Florals; Memory Box die Stitched Ovals

Love the candy canes especially when they are cut from glitter paper!  I used a candy cane border die and a large candy cane die to create this card.  Lots of glitter makes it so festive!

Candy-CaneCandy Canes – Poppystamps dies Candy Cane Gift and Candy Cane Stripes; design inspired by Ilona Zbieg

Poinsettias are such a holiday tradition and these dies from Imrpession Obsession not only cut the flowers but impress them with lots of detail for a very realistic look. I stamped the sentiment in Gold Delicata ink which is a very bright gold ink.

IO-PoinsettiasPoinsettias – Impression Obsession dies Poinsettias small and Berry Branches; Poppystamps die Blooming Poinsettias small; Memory Box dies Wrapped Stitched Rectangles and Pinpoint Rectangles; Taylored Expressions stamp set Rejoice; design inspired by Jean Okimoto

I hope you enjoyed the cards.  Please stop in and see all these dies and many, many more plus all the glitter paper!  We have so much in stock that will make your holiday cardmaking fun and fast!  I hope to see you soon!

Happy Thanksgiving to All

Hello Friends.  I hope you are having a very pleasant and abundant Thanksgiving.  I have much to be thankful including wonderful customers like you.

Pumpkin-Box-Three
To express my gratitude to good friends, I made these bread boxes and filled them with pumpkin bread.  I got the idea from Jennifer Svare, a design team member for Poppystamps.  You can read her blog post and see her video here.  Here's a close-up photo:

Pumpkin-Box-Close-upThe boxes themselves are actually quite easy to make, however the decorating did take a while.  I created the box structure, embossed the same cardstock with a woodgrain embossing folder (Darice) then mounted the embossed panel on to copper metallic cardstock. These panels were taped to all four sides of the box.

The pumpkins (Poppystamp dies Harvest Pumpkin and Swirl Pumpkin) were cut from orange and copper cardstock, respectively.  I distressed the orange Harvest Pumpkin die cut then glued the Swirl Pumpkin over it.  The leaf vines were cut with the Poppystamps Oak Leaf Oval Collage die and enhanced with more leaves cut with the Impression Obsession die Oak Leaves and Rake.

Finally the "wings" on the top of the box were 2" strips of cardstock cut with the Poppystamps die Eyelet Stitches.  After I cut the border design I scored the stips at 1" and folded them on the score line then taped them inside the box.

If you are interested in making some, I am happy to answer any questions you have.  Jennifer has a PDF on her blog with all the measurements.

Hello Friends.  Days are growing shorter and cooler signals the arrival of fall.  In fact, Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away!  Yikes!  Today I have several cards to share with you ... some fun ... some pretty.  Please stop in soon to see what's new in the store -- there are so many fun items to use for cardmaking and gift making.  Over the next few posts, I will be sharing with you some holiday gifts I have made for friends and family.   Please send me photos of what you are making.  It's fun to share and inspire each other.

This is such a fun card! And yes it did take a while to make.  I made the background by blending Distress Oxide Inks then die cut all the images and put them together.  I love the new Little Bit dies Turkey Dinner and Pumpkin Pie from Taylored Expressions -- they are perfect for Thanksgiving cards.  And the Little Bit Turkey really looks scared!

More Fun Halloween Cards

Hello friends.  I just love making Halloween cards because they are so much fun!  Lil Inkers Designs has some really unique Halloween stamps and dies and today I want to share some of these with you.  One of my very favorites is the Ghost Border.  I discovered it last year too close to Halloween to order it so had to wait a year to get it.  It was worth the wait because it is honestly so clever.  It features LID's dual stitching which means the die cut ghost has stitching and so does the negative piece.

The die also features three different sets of eyes which can be used with the ghost border or independently as you will see on my card below. LID_Ghost_BorderLil Inkers Design die Ghost Border $11.00

Notice that the ghost border can be positioned in many ways both in landscape and portrait.  I cut the ghost and the eyes in one pass.  The googly eyes are really cute!

Fall and Thanksgiving Cards

Hello and Happy Fall to all!  As the days grow shorter, sunsets come earlier, and the air is a little cooler, we know fall is coming.  Everyone loves fall and for papercrafters it is a season rich with possibilities for card-making with pumpkins, leaves and fall foliage. Let me share with you samples of new dies and stamps.

Haunted Halloween Greetings!

Hello Friends and thanks for stopping by.  Today I am sharing a wide variety of halloween greetings starring all the usual suspects: Frank(enstein), mummies, ghosts, bats, haunted houses, spooky trees, black cats, spiders and their webs and many more iconic symbols of Halloween.  I am using Taylored Expressions stamps and dies and they are soooo cute and spooky!  I know you will love them -- well if you can love scary Halloween characters!  You can see all the products I used at the end of this blog.

We have Coffin Boxes (black cardstock) that coordinate perfectly with the Taylored Expressions Label Stacklets 11 and From the Crypt -- Haunted dies.  For instance, in the photo below, the ghost coffin box (left) is topped with a purple mat cut with the second largest of the Labels 11 dies. The black mat is cut with a smaller die from that set.  For the Mummy Coffin Box (center) I topped it with a light purple mat cut with the largest die then again cut the black mat with a smaller die in the set.  For the Haunted House Coffin Box (on the right) I cut the From the Crypt -- Haunted die from purple cardstock and glued it to the top of the coffin box.

The Coffin Boxes come in a package of 5 for $4.99 and includes the top and the bottom of the box.  They will hold lots of treats for your trick-or-treaters!  The assembled box measures 2" wide by 4" long by 1" high.  They are easy to assemble with tape, glue or glue dots.

You can use the Label Stacklets 11 die cuts on cards too.  For this card I cut layers from black and white cardstock then cut the cat layer (From the Crypt -- Haunted) from black glitter paper.  I adhered these together on top of a stitched circle cut from orange cardstock. The layers open up to reveal our friend the Mummy!  Note:  Use a photo turn to hold the layers shut. Open-if-you-dare-Cat-outside

This is my favorite card!  The mummies are so scary yet their greeting is so funny!  I colored it with Copic markers (green) and Zig Clean Color Brush markers on the bandages.

The Sitting Pretty series of dies are just wonderful if you love making scenes.  The orginal set includes lots of tiny picture frames and the shelf shown below.  The subsequently released Halloween Accessories set includes a variety of Halloween icons like a skull, spider, spider web, witch's boots, etc.  This card stars the shelf embellished with the spider web, a black cat and a candelabra.  The Ornate Frame is another new die just released. These ghosts are floating above the Ghost Town Border in a sky created with the new Twinkle Twinkle Bakground stamp.  I stamped it in Versamark on white cardstock, embossed it in gold then blended the background using Distress Oxide inks (Spiced Marmalade and Wilted Violet).  If you haven't bought the Oxide inks you are really missing out.  They blend so easily and quickly plus you can stamp with them too!  I love them. I love how the Birch Tree Background makes a great background for the jack-o-lanterns created with the new Simply Stamped Pumpkins stamp set (with coordinating dies).  The pumpkins are stamped with three colors of ink (start with light then medium and dark) using the Stamp Perfect stamp positioning tool.  Then I added the stems and leaves (also die cut) and stamped the faces in black ink.

Laurel Burch Dog Park Samples

Hello friends and welcome to another blog post featuring the wonderful, whimsical stamps of Laurel Burch.  For these cards I colored all the dogs channeling LB by juxtaposing bright colors on all the dogs.  You have to let yourself go and just have fun coloring.

My first card is a pop-up card.  On the outside of the card I used a wonderful pice of decorative paper with a very collage feel.  I added another piece of black and white polka dot paper for the dog to stand on, stamped and embossed the greeting in white and added some whimsical motif stamps from another LB set in black.

Pop-Up-InsideInside of the card is a pop-up!  I used a set of pop up dies from Stampendous and they made it super easy.

Pop-Up-InsideClose up of the three colorful dogs.  Aren't they just darling?

My next card features another dog in the set, standing in the grass created with a new die from TE called grassy Hills.  There are three dies in the set and they make it easy to cut and layer grassy hills.

And this next sample proves you can keep it simple and still have a cool card!  I stamped the Zig Zag Cats in black and added a little color with black, grey, red and blue.

Brighter Skies Ahead

Brighter-Skies-Ahead Hello Friends.  Well, my vacation to Port Aransas on the Texas Gulf Coast was interupted by Hurricane Harvey so I quickly retreated to Dallas to visit my sister.  Great timing right?  My dear friend and my niece evacuated to Fredricksburg in the Texas hill country.  My friend's house was flooded so she will have clean up when she returns.  My niece's house is OK thank goodness.  Meantime, my brother, who is a doctor at the medical center in Houston, was camping out at the hospital because all the streets to his house were flooded.

I hope if you have friends or family on the coast or in Houston that they are well and safe.  I am sure you join me in praying for all the people affected by the storms.

I am sending this card to my friends and family to let them know I am thinking of them.  I used Taylored Expressions Sunny Days stamp and die combo set.

The Stamp Act is gearing up for all the fall holidays including Halloween, Fall and Christmas.  Day of the Dead stamps and dies are really hot this year so grab yours now!  Plus we have lots of other wonderful stamps, dies and papers so there's something for everyone!

I hope to see you soon!

New Samples with Memory Box and Poppystamps Dies

Memory Box and Poppystamps dies and stamps are perineal favorites and today's samples will hopefully show you why.  I used my Oxide inks to make several of the backgrounds including on this first card. Please be sure to click on the photos to see the backgrounds up close.

I used the direct-to-paper technique with several colors of ink, blending the colors with a blending tool then sprinkling a little water on the background to "oxidize" the ink.  I used the new Pinpoint Circle Frame to die cut the circle.  I created the gold background by die cutting some cardstock with the Penny Black Dots die and sponging on the Delicata ink.Dragonfly-CornerDragonfly Corner – Memory Box dies Pinpoint Circle Frame, Dragonfly Stems Left Corner and Beautiful Day; Penny Black die Dots and Swirls; oxide inks and Delicata Golden Glitz ink; design inspired by Jean Okimoto

Another background created with Oxide inks.  I sponged several colors on a craft mat then spritzed them with water and dragged (Tim Holtz) watercolor paper through the inks. I dried the cardstock with a heat tool and repeated layering the inks one more time.  I love the "wishing you a " die -- the inside of the card is the next photo.

You can see Dave Brethauer's video where he makes this card here.  I made 6 cards fast by die cutting the 6 borders, three from each set, from 6 colors of cardstock and glueing the borders to a white top folded card.  The Taylored Expressions sentiment is perfect!

Bright Colorful Stamped Cards

Hello friends.  Remember stamping?  Today's cards all created with new stamps and they are colorful and fun!  Enjoy!

A stamp company called Lockhart Stamps, after founder Karen Lockhart, was bought a few years ago by Peggy Jo Ackley and renamed Pink Ink Stamps.  Peggy Jo spent many years licensing her artwork to the paper, gift and home decor industries, and illustrated hundreds of books for American Girl.  She has continued Karen's legacy of beautiful artwork and generally uses colored pencils to color her whimsical designs.  This year Impression Obsession licensed some Pink Ink designs and offered them with matching dies.  For the card below I used a set called Flower Vases which comes with three vases and a variety of flowers and leaves.  It's fun to color and looks great against the new cool background called Rolling Waves by IO.  I colored the vase and flowers with Copic markers.IO-Pink-Ink-Flower-VasesIO Pink Ink Flower Vases – Impression Obsession/Pink Ink clear stamp set with matching dies Flowers Vases; Spellbinder die Classic Circles; IO Cover-A-Card background stamp Rolling Waves; design inspired by Laura Fulcher

What's more fun to color than summer treats?  The new Good Old Summertime stamp set from Impression Obsession contains every treat you can think of and they make a great background for a summery card.Sweet-SummertimeIO Sweet Summertime – Impression Obsession clear stamp set Sweet Summertime; Spellbinder die Classic Circles; Copic markers; design inspired by Ilina Crouse

I cannot get enough of the Stampendous Laurel Burch stamps and neither can my customers.  They regularly sell out -- but new designs quickly take their place!  This flower and word combo comes from a set called Floral Reflections; I stamped it on the diagonal, colored it then cut off the top and adhered it to a black card.LB-Floral-ReflectionsStampendous Laurel Burch Floral Reflections – Stampendous Laurel Burch clear stamp set Floral Reflections; Copic markers; design inspired by Cynthia F.

Another Impression Obsession stamp and more bright colors makes this pretty rose in a jar a perfect all occassion card.Peach-RosesPeach Roses – Impression Obsesssion stamp Roses in Jar; IO die 6 in 1 Rectangle Frames; Taylored Expressions stamp set Many Mini’s All Occasions; design inspired by Jenny Gropp

How delicate and pretty are the soft colors of this next card starring a new Stampendous stamp called Butterfly Aviary.  I mounted the focal image on some fairy paper and cut the words at the bottom of the card from the same paper.Butterfly-AviaryButterfly Aviary – Stampendous stamp Butterfly Aviary; Kaisercraft decorative paper

Speaking of gorgeous coloring, check out this next card by Harriet Head starring another Stampendous stamp.  Great work!Harriet's-Gnome-HomeGnome Home – Stampendous stamp Gnome Home

I love, love, love this next stamp -- the Double Cone Flower from Impression Obsession.  It is stamped in black on white cardstock giving it a solid black background with open areas of white cardstock to color.  The coloring I did with Copic markers and it was easy.  For the sentiment I white embossed a phrase from the IO stamp set called Smile and paired it with the Smile word cut from orange and matted in black.  So pretty!

Concord & 9th Turnabout Stamp

You may not be familiar with the relatively new stamp company called Concord & 9th but they have developed the coolest stamp line called Turnabout Stamps.  Pictured below is the Oh Hello There Turnabout stamp.  See the cards below the stamp?  The backgrounds were created using this stamp -- and it's easy.  First you make a template that aligns the stamp so that as your turn your cardstock clockwise four times and ink the stamp in one of four colors the words fall right into place with no overlaps.  Go here to see a video showing how to use this stamp.  What will they think of next?

What's New at The Stamp Act

TH-Stamp-PlatformWe have received the new Tim Holtz stamping platform which is priced at $40.99.  To see Tim Holtz demo this stamping tool go here.  If you do not have a stamping platform, you are really missing out on a tool that makes stamping lots easier and better.  Why?  The tool aligns your stamp so that you can stamp it over and over in the same spot to darken an image or restamp an incomplete image.  I use mine every time I stamp and find it invaluable.

We have also received the 12 new Oxide ink colors making 24 in all.  Oxide inks are a totally new ink, a fusion of dye and pigments that can be used to create gorgeous backgrounds with effortless blending and layering.  Check out this video for a comprehensive introduction to oxide inks.

We also have lots of new stamps and dies from all different companies including some great new dies from Lawn Fawn. These will be released on August 24 and will include some bery creative new dies!

 Vacation

The Stamp Act will be closed from Monday, August 21 through Monday, September 4 for vacation.  We will reopen on Tuesday, September 5 at 10am.

Decorated Notepad Gifts

Hello friends.  Today I am continuing my papercrafting gift series with some decorated notepads. These notepads are made from one piece each of 12" x 12" cardstock and 12" x 12" decorative paper.  I selected double sided decorative papers which made it easy to coordinate the decorative papers on the inside and outside.  If you search "paper covered notepads" on You Tube you will see lots of samples with instructions.  However, before you start you need to decide what size notepad you are going to use inside.  I used Junior Legal Pads and they fit perfectly within the piece of 12" x 12" cardstock.  If you select a smaller notepad or even smaller Post-It notepads, you can make your structure with one piece of 8½” x 11” cardstock.

I cut all the cardstock structures from tan cardstock simply because it was available and a neutral color.  For the  outside covers I selected decorative papers that would work with the flower dies I had selected to use.  You can of course decorate the cover with any dies and stamps.

My first two notepads are covered with a bright. colorful striped paper that coordinates with a cactus paper (used on the inside).  I matted it with solid blue green cardstock.  FYI: The front and inside covers measure 8¼” x 5¼”.  You can see the pen on the left in its own slot (more about the pen later). I decorated this first notepad with a flower set from Taylored Expressions mounted on TE's stitched ovals.

Orange-Flowers-insideTaylored Expressions dies Bloom Where You Are Planted and Stitched Ovals

My next notepad is decorated with the cutest little cactus die from Paper Smooches.  I added the sun from Impression Obsession and mounted the cactus on top of a green background cut with Poppystamps stitched landscape die.

Orange-Flowers-insidePaper Smooches die Cactus; Impression Obsession die Sun and Moon.

The inside of the notepad cover has a tear-off calendar and pocket on the left side and the Junior Legal pad on the right.

Orange-Flowers-insideI covered the top of the notepad with decorative paper then taped it into the structure with very strong tape, either ATG tape or Scor tape -- both available at The Stamp Act.

Orange-Flowers-insideThe pen is a Pentel RSVP pen (available with the junior legal pads at Office Depot).  The pen's black bottom screws off so you can curl the decorative paper around the ink refill then stuff it into the pen's barrel.  This was the most challenging task!

The next few notepapds are decorated similarly using Blossom dies from Taylored Expressions and various sentiment stamps.  I love the bright colors.

Leaves-InsideThese notepads were a lot of fun to make and I want to make several more with themes like Cats and Dogs and more masculine papers.  You can also add words like "notes, to do list, and important notes" to the covers.

If you are interested in making one or more of these notepads, call me for a class for you and a friend.  I think they will make very useful gifts for anyone on your Christmas list.  And don't forget to shop The Stamp Act for all your papercrafting needs and lots of inspiration!

Calendar Cards

My last post was named "Cards and Calendars" because I used a stamp set to make both.  I am calling this post "Calendar Cards" because I am decorating calendars and turning them into cards.  Fun!

For this set of cards (inspired by Karen Amidon) I used a lot (I mean a LOT!!!) of dies mostly from Impression Obsession.  The calendars come as a set from Taylored Expressions.  It was really fun to create the little scenes on the calendars.  I had one set of 2017 calendars left so I used them for these cards. I also made several individual 2018 calendar sets for gifts.

Let's take a look a year of calendar cards.  Once the calendar was decorated, I mounted it on cardstock and decorative papers that coordinated with the colors and theme of the calendar scene.

Calendars and Cards

Hello friends.  I hope you are enjoying your summer.  July is the unofficial kickoff of Christmas crafting and while I am not ready to make Christmas cards just yet, I am determined to get some Christmas presents started and finished before the hectic holidays are upon us.  A popular gift that I make every year for an increasingly long list of friends and family are calendars.  This year I am making two calendar versions and today I want to share with you the stamped version.

For the stamped calendars I used Taylored Expressions' stamp set with matching dies Flowers for a Year and the TE die set Build a Calendar 2.  Here's what they look like:

Flowers-for-a-Year-stamps

Flowers-for-a-Year-dies

Build-a-Calendar-2Each year Taylored Expressions releases their new printed calendars in two sizes, 3" x 4" and 5" x 7".  I like the smaller size because there is less to decorate -- very important when you're making multiples!  The set of 12 calendars cards in 3" x 4" size is $4.49 and, as you can see, the frame die (above) just fits around the colored rectangle on the card.

TE-3x4-CalendarsThe Flowers for a Year stamp set is so versatile -- it's not just for calendars -- it makes beautiful cards too.  First I will show you the calendars I made (inspired by Melody Rupple's samples). Be sure to click on the photos to see more detail. Jan-Feb

Nov-Dec

Nov-DecNow you're probably wondering how I display these calendars.  I have used three options.  First we have a Mini Easel that just fits the cards.  It's inexpensive ($5.99 for a package of 2) and takes up no room.

Mini-EaselA second popular option is the 7 Gypsies Shadowbox Frame (12 compartments) which have been discontinued but can still be found on line. Shadowbox-lgMy last option is new this year.  It's the Tim Holtz Flip Frame ($19.99).  It's a standing frame that measures 7" x 5" on a small round stand with a 5½” x 3½” center opening. The frame comes with two 1⅜” rings.  I made the sleeves for the calendars using page protectors and the WR Memory Keepers Fuse Tool which heat sets a seam along the edge of the cut plastic.  I punched holes at the top of each plastic sleeve, inserted the calendar then hung the 12 sleeves from the rings. The pages flip right over the top.  The Flip Frame makes a very nice presentation for both men and women. Flip-FrameNow for some card samples.  This first set of cards is inspired by some that Michele Boyer made.  These white on white cards each have an embossed panel matted on colored cardstock.  The simple white layout draws all your attention to the pretty flowers and simple greetings (also in the same stamp set).

Sympathy Cards

Hello friends.  Today's post includes several sympathy cards using different supplies and techniques.  Please  click on the photos to see more detail on the cards.

For my first card I sponged Memento inks in the corner of a white panel die cut with the Lacy Layers die from Waffle Flower.  I finished the card with Memory Box butterfly dies which are so handy because they come in 2 sets of 3 -- the outlines and the backgrounds -- in 3 graduated sizes.  I die cut the sentiment three times and glued them on top of each other to give the sentiment more dimension.

Avery-Elle-Pink-Outside

For the inside the card I used the piece of cardstock leftover from die cutting the Lacy Layers panel and the outlines cut with the butterflies.  Easy!Avery-Elle-Pink-Inside Avery Elle Pink – Avery Elle stamp and matching die With Sympathy; Waffle Flower die Lacy Layers; Memory Box die Cascadia and Leavenworth Butterflies; design inspired by Melania Deasy

The next card is really fast and easy.  Be sure to double click this card to see the background embossed with cherry blossoms and accented with crystals. For this card a Penny Black flower stamp and edger die are the stars.  Avery-Elle-Blue-White Avery Elle Blue and White – Avery Elle stamp and matching die With Sympathy; Penny Black die Edger; Penny Black clear stamp set Flowers Sweet; design inspired by Penny Ward

For the pet sympathy card, I die cut a heart window in a white panel that I had die cut with the Memory Box Pierced Rectangles.  I stamped the sentiment below the heart window and suspended the sympathy die cut over the window.  Next I stamped the word "with" and the dog paw on the gray card and mounted the white panel on the gray card with foam tape to give it dimension.  The Avery Elle set is small but packed with sentiments for both people and pets. Avery-Elle-With-SympathyAvery Elle Pet Sympathy – Avery Elle stamp and matching die With Sympathy; Taylored Expressions die Stitched Hearts Stacklets; Memory Box die Pierced Rectangles; Avery Elle clear stamp set with matching dies More Furry Friends; Impression Obsession stamp From Your Heart; design inspired by Karolyn Loncon

Happy Hollyhocks

Hello fellow papercrafters.  What's more summery than colorful flowers? The Impression Obsession Hollyhocks die has been super popular ever since it was released several years ago.  So today I am welcoming summer with a series of cards starring the hollyhocks in vibrant colors.

For this first card, a cat sits patiently staring at the hollyhocks growing beneath the window.  I added a little fence and a birdhouse to the vignette and a sweet sentiment. (Be sure to double click on the card to see more detail).Window Window – Impression Obsession dies Hollyhocks, Birdhouses and Cats; Poppystamps die Madison Window small; Taylored Expressions dies Wrought Iron Fence and Designer Mini Tags; TE stamp set Many Minis Occasions; Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots; design inspired by Jenny Garlick

Another cat prowls the garden dwarfed by the tall hollyhocks.

HelloHello – Impression Obsession dies Hollyhocks and Cats; Penny Black die Flower Tags; Poppystamps die Grassland Border; Paper Smooches clear stamp set Salutations; Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots; design inspired by Jenny Garlick

The sentiment "You Color My World" says it all!You-Color-My-WorldYou Color My World – Impression Obsession die Hollyhocks; Poppystamps die Madison Window large; Amuse sentiment stamp; Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots; design inspired by Jenny Garlick

One more garden of blooms, this time with a sweet bird.Miss-You Miss You – Impression Obsession die Hollyhocks; Paper Smooches die Word Bubbles; Paper Smooches clear stamp set Salutations; Memory Box dies Perched Reedbird and Wildflower Landscape; Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots; design inspired by Jenny Garlick

Ok, I went from all that color to a very neutral gray, but the hollyhocks are still stately even when cut from white cardstock.  This would be a nice sympathy card too.Gray-CongratulationsCongratulations – Impression Obsession dies Hollyhocks and Scribble Circles; design inspired by Melissa Kay By Design

From the Archives ...

Here are two cards from the past, both of which show off the beauty of the hollyhocks.  Hollyhocks-FenceHollyhocks by the Picket Fence – Impression Obsession dies Hollyhocks, Tall Grass, Grass Border and Picket Fence; Memory Box die Dancing Butterflies and Puffy Clouds; Poppystamps die Fancy Clouds; design inspired by Kitty Caracciolo

I love this next card because the rusty pail looks so real.  To create this card, die cut the white cardstock with the IO die Fancy Cutout Border and adhere it to a blue card with foam tape.  Die cut the pail and handle then color them using a dry brush and Distress Ink Rusty Hinge.  Die cut the hollyhocks, chalk the centers then cup the flowers on a foam mat using a large stylus.

Arrange and adhere flowers in this sequence (front to back):

  •  3 hollyhocks (bottom parts trimmed)
  •  2 tall grasses
  •  1 leafy branch (stem trimmed)

Glue the pail’s handle to the pail and adhere pail to card with foam tape.  Stamp greeting on flower die; tie on twine and tie in bow; glue greeting to pail.  Chalk butterflies and glue to card as shown. Hollyhocks-PailHollyhocks in a Rusty Pail – Impression Obsession dies Hollyhocks, Tall Grass, Leafy Branch, Fancy Cutout Border and Pail; Memory Box die Dancing Butterflies; Taylored Expressions stamp and die set Many Mini’s All Occasions

One more card and this one is from my customer Bea Mieckowki.  It features the rusty pail too but she placed her Hollyhock garden against a brick wall.  So pretty!  Thanks Bea for sharing.

Cards for Crafters

Hello Friends!  Today's blog is all about us crafters!  How fun are these cards?!  They are perfect to send to other "addicted" crafter's and to friends who know about our obessions!  Enjoy!

These cards are made with a preciously released set of stamps from Taylored Expressions and the newly released matching dies (not shown).

Alifeshelovedpkg_1Taylored Expressions stamps set A Life She Loved, $18.79.  Matching dies are $22.99.

My first card is very colorful and features the TE Little Bit Paint Brush die.  I die cut the paint brushes from kraft cardstock and the tips from white cardstock then adhered the tips to the brushes.  I colored them with the same color Copic marker that I colored the sentiment with.Color-My-Life-Paint-BrushesColor My World Paint Brushes – Taylored Expressions stamp set with coordinating dies A Life She Loved; TE Little Bit die Paint Brushes; TE paper pad Rainbow Brights; design inspired by Michele Boyer

This card is similiar except it includes the Little Bit Colored Pencil die as well as the Paint Brushe sand the Paint Palette.  I colored the sentiment with colored pencils which show up well on the balck cardstock.

Color-My-Life-Colored-PenciColor My World Colored Pencils – Taylored Expressions stamp set with coordinating dies A Life She Loved; TE Little Bit dies Colored Pencils, Paint Brushes and Paint Palette; design inspired by Jean Manis

You can make a quick background using the focal image in a neutral color and mounting a die cut piece of vellum on top.  The paint brushes are stamped in black, colored with Copic markers and glued on top of the vellum.  Then it's easy to mount the vellum by placing foam tape on the vellum under the brushes.  TIP:  I stamped the sentiment on the vellum with Memento black ink and let it dry before I colored it.  Alternatively you could stamp it in Versafine black and emboss it with clear embossing powder.

Color-My-Life-VellumColor My World Vellum – Taylored Expressions stamp set with coordinating dies A Life She Loved; TE die Stitched Rectangles; design inspired by Gayatri Murali

A few layers in different colors adds a fun touch to this card.

Make-Beautiful-ThingsMake Beautiful Things – Taylored Expressions stamp set with coordinating dies A Life She Loved; TE dies Stitched Rectangles, Stitched Circles and Frame in Frame; design inspired by Jen Shults

I love the layer son this card.  The kraft corrugated card and the white card are both cut with the Stitched Rectangles and splattered with green and blue ink.  I added Glossy Accents on top of the ink spots on the palette to make them look more realsitic.  Paint-Brushes-Designed-a-LiPaint Brushes Designed a Life – Taylored Expressions stamp set with coordinating dies A Life She Loved; TE Little Bit dies Paint Brushes and Paint Palette; TE die Stitched Rectangles; design inspired by Melody Rupple

OK, there are crafts other than papercrafting, and knitting and crocheting are very popular these days.

News You Can Use

Recently Jennifer McGuire released a video blog showing 5 Must Have Tools for papercrafters.  The Stamp Act has carried all these tools (or something very close to them) and interestingly enough I had several on order when her blog released so they will be coming soon.  Here is my top useful tools list:

Stamp Perfect -- If you don't have it (or another similiar stamp positioning tool) you need to run not walk to The Stamp Act and buy one.  It is extremely useful and will increase your stamping pleasure as it decreases your stamping mistakes.  We have the larger size Stamp Perfect for $29.99.

Fine Tip Glue Bottle -- I agree with Jennifer that a fine tip glue bottle is a must have.  We have the Precision Tip Applicator Bottle that lets you apply tiny drops of glue on thin little die cuts.  Does it clog up occassionally?  Yes.  So go to Hobby Lobby and buy some corsage pins and clean the tip out every once in while.  Or leave the pin in the bottle as a "lid".  Jennifer recommends the Darice Bottles which come 4 to a set and I have those on order also.

Tombow Mono Sand Eraser -- This little eraser can help erase tiny bits of stray ink from your stamping.  Very helpful.

Jewel Picker -- is very handy tool with a sticky end that picks up jewels or sequins.  We carry the Lifestyle Crafts Quicker Picker Upper and the Embellie Jellie.  The Embellie Jellie is an ingenous tool that comes with a small box of a jelly material that you mold into a ball and stick on the end of a wooden skewer.  Then just use the skewer to pick up small embellishments from tiny crystals to heavier buttons.  I also have the Uchida Jewel Picker on order.

The Scor  'n' Pierce Tool --  ranks as one of my top tools.  It has 4 retractable tips: 2 that pierce and 2 that score (ball stylus).  When you need to poke paper out of a die this tool’s tip fits into the tiniest holes.

Milwaukee Heat Tool -- gets hotter than other heat tools so it embosses faster.  It’s the best!

Die Snips -- make snipping apart dies a breeze.  Unlike regular wire snips that are big and clunky, these have a tapered end so they easily fit into tight places to snip dies apart.  Check them out – I reach for mine almost every day!  And if you need to smooth out the burrs left from snipping, use a Dremel tool with a sanding tip.  Be sure to wear safety gogges!!

Tweezers --  I know that using tweezers is a personal preference (passion!) of mine but if you try them you too will love them!  We carry the Elizabeth Craft Tweezers which have very thin, curved tips which make picking up the smallest of embellishments or die cuts easy.

Shop for all the tools, papers, dies and stamps you need for your papercrafting at The Stamp Act!  And if you are looking for a tool or have a question about a tool, just stop in for some advicce.   Thanks for stopping by the blog today.

Happy Father's Day!

Hello firneds.  I have to say that Father's Day snuck up on me.  I have been so busy making other samples, ordering more merchandise and working in my other business.  Plus I am doing some repairs and improvements on my house and that means supervising contractors which is a full time job!

My first Father's Day card shows a shirt with contrasting collar and a pocket that says it all!  All pieces were handcut except the letters and numbers on the pocket.  A fun card that could be adapted to a birthday or other special occasion.Number-One-DadNumber 1 Dad – Memory Box die Classic Numbers; Impression Obsession die Typewriter Alphabet; Paper Smooches dies Pocket and Stitches

Graduation Cards

Hello Friends.  It's graduation time again so here's some inspiration for you!

I love the Block Party word dies from Taylored Expressions.  Here the word is "Grad" and I cut it from white cardstock embossed with the Brushed Stars background stamp then backed it with orange polka dot paper.  I added a graduation cap complete with tassel.Grad-with-StarsGrad with Stars – Taylored Expressions die Block Party Grad and Little Bit die Hats Off; TE stamp Brushed Star Background; design inspired by Kim Singdahlsen

I used the Grad die again on this card, cutting it from black cardstock and mounting it over some cloud paper.  The card is embellished with the darling Little Bit die Owl, the graduation cap and some graduation confetti.

I used the Grad die again for this card, this time cut from blue cardstock.  I stamped the Brushed Star Background in Memento Toffee Crunch ink on kraft cardstock, cut it into 2 pieces and glued them and the Grad die cut together and mounted them on a white card.Super-StarSuper Star – Taylored Expressions die Block Party Grad and Little Bit die Hats Off; TE stamp Brushed Star Background; Memory Box die Stitched Squares; TE stamp set Shining Star Sentiments; design inspired by Melody Rupple

Ribbit ... Ribbit!

OK, today's blog is a little crazy because it's all about frogs!  It just so happens that I have a lot of frog dies and stamps in stock and they all jumped on my desk at the same time so here they are!  I hope you will enjoy them.  I even went into the archives and pulled out some frog cards from years past.  Enjoy!

It all started with the new Frog/Bear die from Paper Smooches (shown below).  All the cards shown here used just this die so you can see the set is really versatile.Happy-BirthdayThis is the third die in their trilogy of fun card dies including their Bunny Card die here and their Cat/Dog die here. I will show you the Bear cards first then it's all about frogs!  Each of these die sets is $19.99.

For this card I cut a party hat for the bear and added the sentiment below.Happy-BirthdayHappy Birthday – Paper Smooches dies Bear/Frog Card and Hearts; Paper Smooches clear stamp set Salutations; design inspired Teri Anderson

Love the sentiment on this sweet bear!
Happy-BirthdayBear Hugs – Paper Smooches dies Bear/Frog Card and Word Bubbles; Paper Smooches clear stamp set Courteous Cuties

This cute bear is holding a letter that opens to reveal heartfelt wishes.  For his hands I cut the (face) oval in half and added claws made from the nostril die.

Now for the frogs.  Our first one is bringing "hoppy" birthday wishes.  I used the cat/dog eye lash die for the "hands." As you look at these cards notice how all the ways you can make the frogs look just by varying the pieces of the set you use. For this next card I cut the clouds and lily pads from felt; sponged a background on a vellum panel; and embossed the Warts Up sentiment in white on black cardstock.  The "hello" is from Penny Black's die set called Doodles.

A Potpouri of Cards

Deer-3Hello fellow papercrafters!  Imagine my surprise when I glanced out my kitchen window to see two deer munching on my elm tree's leaves.  There is desert behind my back yard and neighbors have told me they had seen deer, but this was my first time.  They looked as surprised to see me and quickly hurried off.

New Product

AmodexHas this ever happened to you?  I was wearing a brand new (somewhat expensive) blouse and refilling a Copic marker – red of course.  The bottle slipped out of my hand and a drop of bright red ink flew across my table and landed right on my new blouse.  Permanent ink ... Yikes!  Oh I was so sad and mad… ugh!  What to do?  I took the shirt home, hung it in the closet and prayed something would occur to me that would take out the stain.

Weeks later I got an email about a stain remover called Amodex.  That reminded me that years ago my good friend and fellow stamper Kathi had told me about this product.  I ordered Amodex and when it arrived I tried it on the shirt.  Miracles do happen!  Amodex took every bit of the ink out of the shirt.  Honestly – the red ink is gone without a trace!

Amodex is a totally eco-friendly ink and stain remover that works on all inks from ballpoint and gel to permanent markers. It will remove Stazon inks which you know are permanent inks.  The nontoxic formula is designed for use on clothing (including wool), carpeting, furniture, surfaces and skin.  It also removes food stains, grease, toner, blood and more.  Amodex is soap and will not harm surfaces or the environment.

Every stamper has ink stains on their clothes and Amodex is the answer.  Watch this video that shows Amodex in action for crafters then come to The Stamp Act for this great product!  It should be in stock in a few weeks, but you can reserve your 1 ounce bottle now for $8.49 or get a trial size towlette for only $1.49.

More Laurel Burch Cards

Speaking of my friend Kathi, she is also my sales rep and she recently sent me some beautiful samples of Stampendous Laurel Burch stamps. Her coloring is really stunning IRL so be sure to stop in and see them for yourself.

Potpouri of Cards

Today's blog also brings you a variety of different cards from funny to serious.  I made this first card for my neice who is a veterinarian in a very large practice in Las Vegas.  She recently told me that she spends a lot of time trying to please customers who argue with her about the fees they charge for treating pets.  I felt so sorry for her being placed in such an uncomfortable position.  I think this card will make her laugh and remind her how hard it is to please everyone.

The Taylored Expressions Little Bit dies are so cute and Impression Obsession's sentiment is perfect!

NutellaNutella – Taylored Expressions Little Bit dies PB&J, Spare Parts, Mason Jar and Silverware; Impression Obsession stamp Nutella

Yummy!  My good friend always brings me a chocolate chip cookie from Starbucks.  I had to make her a thank you card starring Mr. Cookie himself!Milk-and-CookiesMilk and Cookies – Taylored Expressions dies Color Blocking Mini, Little Bit dies Cookie, Milk Bottle and Spare Parts; Impression Obsession die Typewriter Alphabet U/C

Yippee!  Here's a great card for a birthday, graduation, promotion or other special occasion!  Qucik and easy! Yippee Yippee – Waffle Flower die Yippee; Impression Obsession die Yeah; design inspired by Waffle Flower

Harriet recently showed me a darling card she made with the Giraffe Trio die and giraffe-patterned washi tape.  I had to steal her idea and make this cute birthday card.  The little Dancing Moneky adds a cute touch!

Giraffe-Trio-BdayGiraffe Trio Birthday – Poppystamps dies Giraffe Trio, Dancing Monkey and Birthday Background; Doodlebug washi tape

This new Sunflower die from Impression Obsession makes a stunning summer card.Sunflowers Sunflowers – Impression Obsession dies Sunflower Background, 6-in-1 Rectangle Frame, All in One Rectangle Frames and Edgers Everyday; design inspired by Kittie Caracciolo

Here are two sympathy cards both starring the beautiful Dogwood Corner die from Poppystamps.Dogwood-Corner-Sympathy-2Dogwood Corner 2 – Poppystamps die Dogwood Corner; Elizabeth Crafts die With Sympathy; Taylored Expressions embossing folders Dotted Lattice and Leafy Vines

Dogwood-Corner-Sympathy-3Dogwood Corner 3 – Poppystamps die Dogwood Corner; Impression Obsession die With Sympathy; Memory Box dies Cascadia and Leavenworth Butterflies; Taylored Expressions embossing folder Dotted Lattice

The next two cards demonstrate ways to create easy textured backgrounds.  I created the background on the  Feathers card by embossing the Taylored Expressions Southwest background die using the rubber mat in my Vagabond die cutting machine.  Embossing dies is a great way to stretch your dies.  If you haven't embossed in a while, please "google" embossing on your particular machine so you can make sure you know the proper "sandwich" to run through.  NEVER force your sandwich through your machine -- you will regret it!  Ask me how I know!!!FeathersFeathers – Impression Obsession die Feathers; Taylored Expressions die Southwest Background; My Favorite Things die Arrows; Tim Holtz die set Adventure words

For the next card I again embossed, this time using a plastic stencil.  Be sure to double click on the photo to see the background.  When you are embossing a die or a stencil you may need to use a few quarter cards of cardstock to shim the sandwich to get a deep impression.Budding-Peony-Thanks-BuncheBudding Peony – Memory Box die Budding Peony; Impression Obsession dies Vases and Edgers Everyday; Memory Box stencil Garden Peony

Love this next card!  I used the new Sitting Pretty sets from Taylored Expressions.  I gave this card to a friend who refuses to disclose her birthday! 29-BirthdayInside the card:

I hope today's blog has inspired you to stop by The Stamp Act and try something new.  We have a lot to share with you so come on in!  Have a great weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

Stampendous Family Home stamp set

Hello friends.  A new stamp set from Stampendous inspires today's blog.  The clear stamp set is "Family Home" and includes several houses embellished with tiny words and phrases as well as several sentiments about home. The tiny words on the stamps add a darling touch of whimsy!

Family-HomeStampendous clear stamp set Family Home, $16.59

I chose to color them in bright colors.  On this first card I die cut the background with the Fluttering Hearts die and placed pink cardstock behind the cut out hearts.  Then I cut the coloring by leaving the houses in the background in black and white, and coloring just one house for a focal image. Finally, I used two of the tiny hearts to embellish the sentiment.

Family-Home-HeartsLove of a Family – Stampendous clear stamp set Family Home; My Favorite Things die Fluttering Hearts

For this sample I created a side-step card.  You can easlity find the directions for making a side-step card on line.Love-and-Dreams Love and Dreams – Stampendous clear stamp set Family Home; Impression Obsession die Cloud and Moon; Memory Box die Marshmallow Clouds; Spellbinder die Classic Ovals

For this card I created a road with a TE die and placed the house along it.  A little grass and a cute tree complete the scene.Love-Brings-Us-Home Love Brings Us Home – Stampendous clear stamp set Family Home; Taylored Expressions dies On the Road, Grass Border and Build-a-Scene Trees; Memory Box die Stitched Clouds

One of the most versatile and useful dies I have recently discovered is the Winding Road/Stream die from Impression Obsession.  It cuts the perfect little pathway up to this house.

Taylored Expressions "There's No Place Like Home" stamp set

Houses are very popular this season so here's another set of samples using TE's new stamp set, No Place Like Home (pictured below).

TheresnoplacelikehomeTaylored Expressions stamp set There's No Place Like Home, $18.79

Along with the stamp set, I used the two new Sitting Pretty die sets from TE.  The first one pictured below is a series of frames and the Accessories set has dies to cut out a variey of typical house accessories.  And it even cuts out a shelf to set them on!  How fun is that?

Subwaytileembfldr

Taylored Expressions embossing folder Subway Tile, $6.69

If you watch any of the home decorating shows on TV you've seen a subway tiles used in updating kitchens and bathrooms.  So TE brings us an embossing folder that gives that same background to our decorated houses.

This first card shows the shelf decorated with some of the cute accessories.  To get the two-toned look on the word "home" I used the Stamp Perfect stamp positioner.  I covered the heart with a double thickness of post-it notes as I inked the h,m and e with green ink.  Then I removed the post-its and stamped the word on my focal image.  Leaving the stamp in place on the Stamp Perfect, I cleaned the green ink off the stamp and inked the heart in red.  I stamped the heart and because of the wonderful Stamp Perfect, it fit perfectly into its place.  Yeah!  Another option is to stamp the letters and place a die cut heart in the place for the heart.

Home-where-heart-isHome Where Heart Is – Taylored Expressions stamp set There’s No Place Like Home; TE dies Sitting Pretty and Sitting Pretty Accessories; design inspired by Michele Boyer

This next card shows the neighborhood stamp in the background and the little cottage die in the foreground.  The sky is decorated with several of the TE enamel stars.

You can also substittue the TE Little Bit die House in place of the heart in Home.
Home-where-heart-isHearts Can Build – Taylored Expressions stamp set There’s No Place Like Home; TE die Little Bit House; Memory Box die Stitched Rectangles; design inspired by Jean Manis

To create this next card, I stamped the neighborhood stamp in black on white cardstock.  Then I cut a sheet of acetate the same size as the focal image (white cardstock).  Once I knew where I wanted to position the heart, I die cut the acetate with a heart die to make a mortise mask -- which will protect the area around the stamped image (in this case the neighborhood).  Then I placed the actetate mask over the cardstock and sponged on red ink. I colored the window openings with a yellow Copic marker and stamped the sentiment.  Finally I inserted the House over the heart and glued on the word "home" die cut from the new Mini Caps Alpha dies.

I love this card because it looks impressive and it's easy too!  I used the TE Ray of Sunshine die to cut a stencil from white cardstock.  Then I placed the stencil over the white cardstock and sponged on yellow ink to create a sunrise behind the little cottage.  I completed the card with gras and flowers and a little white fence.

Cards with Laurel Burch stamps

Hello friends.  Today I will share with you some finished samples using the new Laurel Burch stamps.  I will admit the coloring was challenging and I found that my third sample was usually much better than my first two.  My friend Jane Smith created two of the cards (as noted) and we both used Copic markers.  I love the stamps and found that once I had selected the colors to use, I enjoyed coloring the images and seeing them come alive.

Mother's Day Cards

Hello Friends. Today I want to share with you some cards that while perfect for Mother's Day, will work just as well for new baby or friendship cards.  I am using a set of stamps with matching dies from Taylored Expressions called Mama & Me.  When you are thinking of Mother's Day, please consider all the mothers in your life.  While my own Mom is gone, I like to remember my sisters, my friends and even my neices who are Moms to fur babies.  Being a Mom comes in many forms so be sure to think outside the family tree!

Here are the set of stamps and dies I am using today.

Mama_me-stampsTaylored Expressions cling-mount stamp set Mama & Me, $18.79

Mama_me_diesTaylored Expressions cling-mount stamp set Mama & Me, $23.99

My first card stars two cute fish swimming in an ocean created by die cutting the Poppystamps die Waverly Collage twice.  The blues and greens are much more vibrant IRL so be sure to click on the photo to enlarge it and see more detail and color.  To give the fish a wet look, I added Glossy Accents on top of the coloring.  A few clear round gems add bubbles to the scene!

FishFish – Taylored Expressions stamp set with matching dies set Mama & Me; TE die Frame in Frame; Poppystamps die Waverly Collage; Impression Obsession die Hearts

For this card I die cut white cardstock with the TE Falling Hearts die to create a stencil.  I laid the stencil over white cardstock and pressed my Versamark ink pad over the heart cut outs.  I then embossed the hearts with clear embossing powder and sponged pink and yellow dye inks on top of the hearts.  The embossed hearts resist the inks and show up as white (the color of the underlying cardstock).  Once the background was completed, I stamped, cut and colored the elephants, mounted them with foam tape and added the Sweet (die cut) and Sweet Little One (stamp) sentiments.

Sweet-Elephants Sweet Elephants – Taylored Expressions stamp set with matching dies set Mama & Me; TE dies Frame in Frame 2, Sweet Script and Falling Hearts; design inspired by Keia Shipp-Smith

I gave the elephants a whole new look when I stamped them on plaid paper and positioned them behind some grass.  Isn't this sentiment the bomb?!!

Mini-Me-Elephants Mini Me Elephants – Taylored Expressions stamp set with matching dies set Mama & Me; TE die Grass Border; design inspired by Kendra Weistock

These colorful birds are perched on the shore near the sea.  The friendship sentiment is one that any friend would like to receive.BirdsBirds – Taylored Expressions stamp set with matching dies set Mama & Me; TE die Skinny Mini Borders 1 and Little Bit Unbrella; design inspired by Charmaine Ikach

And finally the kitties on the doorstep -- how cute are they?  I created the scene using several of the Taylored Expressions Door to Door series dies.  I embossed the background with the TE embossing folder Bead Board then built the scene with the door and decor.  The kitties were stamped, colored and die cut.  The tiny opening in the middle of their tails is a heart so I inlaid a pink heart into the space.  The sentiment can be used so many ways, but it's perfect on the front door.

Kitties Kitties – Taylored Expressions stamp set with matching dies set Mama & Me; TE dies Door to Door, Door to Door Décor, Door to Door Spring and Wispy Grass; TE embossing folder Bead Board; Impression Obsession die hearts; design inspired by Pam Sparks

Be sure to remember all the Moms in your life with personalized cards you create yourself with papercrafting supplies from The Stamp Act.  I hope to see you soon.

Spring Cards with Color

Hello fellow papercrafters.  I hope your day is going well and you are enjoying the warmer spring days we are having.  The new Taylored Expressions stamp and matching die "Rainboot Bouquet" is perfect for spring.  This first card is set against a background embossed with TE's embossing folder Dotted Lattice.  I paper pieced the boots by stamping on some polka dot paper and cutting out parts of the rainboots then gluing these pieces on to the die cut rainboots.Rainboot-Hello-SpringRainboot Hello Spring – Taylored Expressions stamp set Rainboot Bouquet; TE dies Rainboot Bouquet, Script Hello and Pocket & Pages April; Taylored Expressions embossing folder Dotted Lattice; design inspired by Jean Manis

I paper pieced again on this card (more polka dots!)  I created the background with TE's Prairie embossing folder and sponged in clouds using a template cut with TE's Cloud Border die.  The prairie grass is sponged with a light green ink.Rainboot-Hello-SpringRainboot Thank You – Taylored Expressions stamp set Rainboot Bouquet; TE dies Rainboot Bouquet and Build A Scene Rolling Clouds; Taylored Expressions embossing folder Prairie; design inspired by Kerri Michaud

Love the bright aqua and fuschia on this card.  I sponged light yellow over the background; added flowers with one of the Skinny Mini Spring Borders; and grounded the card with another of the Spring Borders.

Same stamp and die but a totally different look.  I embossed the vellum background with TE's Walking on Sunshine embossing folder then colored it on the back with Copic markers.  I mounted the vellum background over decorative paper (clouds) and added the pretty purple boots.Rainboot-Hello-SpringRainboot Sending Sunshine – Taylored Expressions stamp set Rainboot Bouquet; TE die Rainboot Bouquet; Taylored Expressions embossing folder Walking on Sunshine; design inspired by Keia Shipp-Smith

Taylored Expressionshas some beautiful background stamps and their new Blooming Background is a great example.  It is fun to color and can be used for any occassion. Easter Cards

Every holiday has its icons, but who doesn't love the Easter Bunny in all his many forms including this fine sir.  Unfortunately he is retired, but I just could not resist pairing him with the jelly bean sentiment!  So cute!

Smell-Jelly-BeansDo I Smell Jelly Beans – Art Impressions stamps Rabbit (retired) and Jelly Beans; Taylored Expressions Little Bit die Easter Confetti; Memory Box die Stitched Rectangles

Now for some newer bunnies.  Taylored Expressions new Skinny Mini Spring Borders features four dies: bunnies, birds, flowers and a chevron pattern.  I paired two of the borders with the Easter Wishes banner set, substituting the "Happy" from the TE Happy Birthday Banner die for the "Wishes."  Along the bottom of the card is a picket fence festooned with the flowers border, a bunny and a birdhouse.
Smell-Jelly-BeansHappy Easter Birdhouse – Taylored Expressions die Easter Wishes Banner, Happy Birthday Banner, Eventful Bunny Border, Little Bit Birdhouse and Picket Fence; Memory Box die Resting Birds; design inspired by Jean Manis

For this next card I used a variety of dies -- some new, some old -- to create a pretty Easter scene.  The new Lattice Frame die from Taylored Expressions is available only through brick-and-mortar stores like The Stamp Act.  I used the Easter Wishes Banner again and cut the bunny from felt, dressing him up with a cute little bow.

Smell-Jelly-BeansEaster Wishes Basket – Taylored Expressions dies Chocolate Rabbit, Lattice Frame, Easter Wishes banner, Peek-A-Boo Easter and Wispy Grass; Impression Obsession die Basket; Memory Box die Peter Cottontail

This scene was created with the new TE Eventful Bunny die paired with a picket fence, clouds and trees.  Plus there are Easter eggs hiding in the grass!

This bunny really lives up to his name: "Cuddle Bunny."  I copied a card that Harriett Head (good friend and customer from Las Cruces) designed.  Her choice of papers was inspired (they are from Penny Black).  I feel like I could reach into the card and hug the soft, cuddly bunny.  Thanks Harriett for the inspiration!IO-Cuddle-BunnyCuddle Bunny – Impression Obsession stamp Cuddle Bunny; Copic markers; design inspired by Harriet Head

Thoughtful Cards for Easter and Other Occasions

Hello friends.  Today I am sharing with you some cards I have called "thoughtful" because they use more spiritual icons and words.  This first card is almost regal in its purple hues.  It's hard to tell by looking at this photo, but I cut TE's new Ornate Frame from silver metallic cardstock and glued it to a vellum panel.  Then I turned the vellum over and colored the frame's border with a Copic marker (V06).  I glued this frame to a top folding lavender card that I had previously cut with a rectangle die so the center was open.  To finish the card I cut another Ornate Frame and glued it on the inside.  I stamped and die cut the cross, colored it (Copics V01, V04, V05 and V06) and mounted it with foam tape in the center of the frame.  I hid the foam tape that shows on the inside of the card by gluing another cross (die cut from lavender cardstock) over the the "front" cross.  I hope that makes sense!  I finished with some flowers and a sympathy sentiment.  Change the sentiment to Happy Easter for a stunning Easter card.Thoughts-and-Prayers-VaseSympathy Cross – Taylored Expressions stamp set My Redeemer Lives; TE dies My Redeemer Lives, Ornate Frame Bloomers 2, Bloomers Greenery, Stitched Banner Stacklets and Arbor Accessories; senimtnet from Paper Smooches clear stamp set Salutations; design inspired by Jen Shults

I made two more cards using TE's My Redeemer products.  For the first card I embossed the background with the Redeemer embossing folder then stamped and embossed a cross in gold and mounted it with foam tape over the background.  It fits perfectly!  The sentiment is part of the Redeemer stamp set.
Thoughts-and-Prayers-Vase
Alleluia – Taylored Expressions stamp set My Redeemer Lives; TE dies My Redeemer Lives; TE embossing folder Redeemer; design inspired by Michele Boyer

Similar to the card above, for the next card I embossed the gray background and the die cut oval with the Redeemer embossing folder.  Before mounting the gold embossed cross I punched a circle in a scratch piece of cardstock and sponged a soft blue circle in the center of the background.  To highlight the sentiment, I stamped it in black and die cut it with a stitched circle die.  I left it in the circle die and sponged the background with yellow ink. Thoughts-and-Prayers-VaseHe Is Risen – Taylored Expressions stamp set My Redeemer Lives; TE dies My Redeemer Lives, Stitched Ovals Stacklets and Stitched Frame Stacklets; TE embossing folder Redeemer; Memory Box die Stitched Circles; design inspired by Kerri Michaud

TE's "You're in My Prayers" stamp set and matching Prayers Script die have been very popular -- I think because they send the perfect sentiment to friends and family.  This card uses the Ornate Frame set against a sponged background and decorated with pretty flowers.  The prayer sentiment is three die cuts glued together to give it dimension.Thoughts-and-Prayers-VaseIn My Prayers Frame – Taylored Expressions stamp sets You’re in my Prayers and Spring Florals; TE dies Spring Florals, Prayers Script and Ornate Frame; design inspired by Melody Rupple

Remember that you can always use your dies to make a stencil.  I cut one of the smaller crosses from scratch cardstock to form what's called a "mortise mask" which masks the surrounding area while you sponge the blue cross in the center of the background.

Thoughts-and-Prayers-VaseIn My Prayers – Taylored Expressions stamp set You’re in my Prayers; TE dies My Redeemer Lives,  Stitched Frame Stacklets and Stitched Banner Stacklets; design inspired by Kerri Michaud

Pretty flowers and a thoughtful sentiment make a lovely card.  I gave the vase some texture using TE's Kaleidoscope embossing folder.Thoughts-and-Prayers-VaseThoughts and Prayers Vase – Taylored Expressions stamp sets You’re in my Prayers and Spring Florals with coordinating dies Prayers Script and Spring Florals; TE dies Various Vases and Bloomin’ Birthday combo set; TE embossing folder Kaleidoscope; design inspired by Jean Manis

Super easy and so elegant, this card is perfect for any occasion.  I cut two of the Budding Peony and glued them togther.  Then noting the placement of the flower buds and leaf, I sponged on some pink and green inks.  Add a sentiment and a few sequins and the card is done.Thoughts-and-Prayers-VaseBudding Peony – Memory Box die Bubbing Peony; Poppystamps die Eyelet Stitches; Hero Arts sentiment; design inspired by Lindsay Amrhein

Don't Miss the Art Fair at The Plactia Santa Fe

Hello friends.  Just a reminder that this Saturday, April 1 we will have the first ever Upcycle Art Fair at the Placita Santa Fe shopping center.  We are having a tremendous response to this concept and have had to turn away many artists who wanted to exhibit.  We hope this will mean more fairs in the future!

I will be selling vintage screens decorated with lots of different themes.  This one is a favorite of mine because I designed it so you can insert your own photo into the frame.  It's perfect for a new Mom or Grandmother.

Family The frame below is another one that can be customized with your own photo.  Both these assemblages have sentiments that really speak to the heart.  Be sure to click on the photo to see a larger view.

Boy-wonderI designed this frame to encourage all dreamers.

Trust-IdeasI turned two frames into clipboards.  This one features the new Dainty Faerie die from Memory Box.  The entire collage can be removed and photos or other memorabilia clipped in its place.Faerie-ClipboardIn addition to the vintage assemblage pieces, I will be selling greeting cards, Easter bags and candy boxes and business or note card holders.  Here's a candy box I made with the Paper Smooches Bunny Card die featured in last week's blog.

Bunny-Candy-BoxIsn't this a cute bunny!  The box is made with a sheet of cardstock (8.5" x 11") and a little scoring and cutting.  If you have the die and want to make one, email me for instructions.

I hope you will join us this Saturday.  It will be great fun!  And be sure to bring one of your own greeting cards which we will donate to the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation.  They would appreciate cards with generic themes such as thinking of you, hope, florals, etc.  If you donate a card you will earn a 10% discount on your purchase at The Stamp Act (excluding Vagabond and Stamp Perfect tools).

Hippity Hoppity, Easter's on Its Way!

We've got so many Easter papercrafting supplies including dies, stamps and papers.  Here are some examples.

These first two cards are very quick and easy.  I die cut the white cardstock with the bunny die and matted it on pink polka dot paper.  The Hippity Hoppity sentiment is so cute!

This card is very similar in design.  Don't forget to add a little pom pom for the "bunny butt!"

MB-Peter-CottontailPeter Cottontail – Memory Box die Peter Cottontail; Memory Box sentiment stamp

This card is a little more elaborate.  Using Kitty's design, I created a little bunny scene in the square frame of the Massa Leaf Frame die, filling it with bunnies, Easter eggs, flowers and greenery.  Such a pretty card.

Hello friends.  I recently ordered some very pretty stamps and dies from Impression Obsession's new Spring 2017 catalog and today I would like to share them with you.  I love coloring with Copic markers and these stamps were perfect for bright colorful treatments.

Spring Dogwood Blossoms Plus New Products

Hello friends.  Today's blog is all about dogwood blossoms.  Poppystamps has a variety of dogwood dies and I have put together samples using each one.  Plus, dogwoods have been a popular floral motif for many years so I am including some samples from the archives.  Enjoy!

Oh, I continued the pink and green color theme that I started last week!

This is my favorite card.  I love the bird (appropiately called Serene!) as he sits among the falling dogwood blossoms.  To add texture to the bird I embossed him in an embossing folder.
Welcome-Spring
Sweet Wish – Poppystamps dies Falling Dogwood Blossoms, Dogwood Blossoms and Serene Bird; Memory Box die Woodland Branch; Penny Black clear stamp set Happy Snippets; Sizzix Embossing folder; design inspired by Pam Going Postal

For this next card I used the same large Falling Dogwood Blossoms die and combined it with the pretty Monterey Vine die plus some individual dogwood blossoms and a ltitle twine.
Welcome-SpringThanks 2 – Poppystamps dies Falling Dogwood Blossoms and Monterey Vine (retired (: ; Impression Obsession die Greeting Set; design inspired by Irena Kowalczyk Rudlis

Poppystamps and Memory Box have a number of triptych dies and this card combines two of them.  I die cut the Dogwood Triptych from pink cardstock and overlaid it on top of the Stem Triptych cut from green cardstock.  The right edge of the white mat is die cut with the Eyelet Stitches die and embellished with Viva Decor yellow pearl pen.

Welcome-SpringYou Make Me Smile – Poppystamps dies Dogwood Blossom Triptych, Stem Triptych and Eyelet Stitches; Taylored Expressions embossing folder Leafy Vines; Penny Black clear stamp set Snippets; design inspired by Pam Going Postal

I used the same technique for this card with different colors.Triptych-DogwoodSpring – Poppystamps dies Dogwood Blossom Triptych, Stem Triptych and Freehand Happy Spring.

Be sure to click on this card to see it up close. I cut the Stick Frame die several times and glued them to vellum to make the background.  Then I die cut a square opening and framed it and the vellum background in white.  I added three branches and lots of dogwood blossoms and a pretty pink "happy spring" sentiment.
Welcome-Spring
Happy Spring – Poppystamps dies Dogwood Blossoms, Happy Spring and Stick Frame; Memory Box die Woodland Branch; Lifetime Crafts die Rectangles; Spellbinders die Classic Squares; design inspired by Olga Direktorenko

The next two cards are examples of what I call "positive and negative" or "2 for 1" backgrounds.  First I took a piece of 4¼” x 5½” white cardstock and sponged it with several colors of Memento dye ink.  Next I die cut it with the large Falling Dogwood Blossoms saving the individual blossoms.  I mounted the die cut "negative" background to black metallic cardstock with foam mounting tape and embellished the card with the Delicate Dogwood, Thanks sentiment and pearl centers.Welcome-SpringThanks – Poppystamps dies Falling Dogwood Blossoms and Delicate Dogwood; Paper Smooches die Quote Tag; design inspired by Lezlye Lauterbach

For the "positive card" I took the individual blossoms from the die cutting above and inlaid them into a white die cut background.  I added a sentiment and black centers and the card is finished.Welcome-SpringWith Sympathy – Poppystamps die Falling Dogwood Blossoms; Elizabeth Crafts die With Sympathy; design inspired by Lezlye Lauterbach

The Dogwood Corner is a versatile die that easily makes a beautiful card.Dogwood-Corner-SympathyCorner Sympathy – Poppystamps die Falling Dogwood Blossoms; Memory Box dies Butterflies Cascadia and Leavenworth; Taylored Expressions stamp set Flowers for a Year; design inspired by Pam Going Postal

Here's another treatment starring the corner die.  In both cases I cut the die from green then cut it again from fucshia or purple and layered the flowers on the vine.

Samples from the Archives: Circa 2012

Before there were dies, there were stamps!  Remember those days?  Memory Box released three wonderful dogwood stamps in 2012: the Dogwood Bloom, the Dogwood Wreath and the Dogwood Branch.  I featured these stamps in a class using three coloring techniques.  The two Dogwood Wreath cards below are colored with Prisma Watercolor pencils; the Dogwood Branch (first card) is colored with Copic markers; and the Dogwood Bloom (fourth card) is colored with Twinkling H2O watercolors.

Dogwood-Wreath

Dogwood-WreathI stamped the Dogwood Wreath on white cardstock in Versafine Onyx Black ink and colored the flowers with Prisma watercolor pencils.  Then I cut out the wreath (yes with scissors!!!) and mounted it on a Lacy Circle (Spellbinders) cut from white cardstock.  I die cut two Tessatina Borders (Memory Box) and glued them across an A2 card.  Before I layered on the wreath focal image, I used my Scor It Mini scoring tool to score a line on either side of the Tessatina Borders.  This gives the background a little more definition and presence on the card.  Finally I layered the focal image with foam tape and add a few butterflies (Martha Stewart punch) and blings.  The sentiment is from Memory Box.

Single-BloomThe Dogwood Blossom was stamped in Versafine black ink and colored with Twinkling H2O watercolors.  The branch die and sentiment are from Memory Box.

Samples from the Archives: Circa 2010

Hero Arts' large Dogwood stamp was really popular in 2010 and I used it in a variety of ways on these card.  For the first card I stamped it in red ink on kraft cardstock and added a script stamp below it.  The doily die was stamped and embossed in white for a pretty background.
Pink-Dogwood-WreathIsn't this card pretty?  I stamped the Dogwood stamp several times in pink and added a sentiment in brown ink.
Pink-Dogwood-WreathFor this card I colored the stamped image with Copic markers, fussy cut it out and mounted it with foam tape on a stamped background.
Pink-Dogwood-WreathAnd the most impressive card of the bunch is this one.  I stamped the Dogwood stamp on the back of the pewter (metal) and using metal working tools embossed or debossed the image.  Thanks to Kathi Anderson for teaching the class!
Pink-Dogwood-WreathOne more card that while it does not have Dogwood Blossoms, is very springy! I cut the Floral Stem die from  white and green cardstock and layered them on top of each other.  Then I cut the accompanying flower head die from two shades of pink cardstock and added them to the flower.  Next I mounted the flower frame to an embossed background and added a sentiment.Welcome-Spring

New Products Coming: Oxide Inks!

Oxide-Inks-12One of the most exciting new products at CHA 2017 was the introduction of the next generation of Distress Inks.  Ranger and Tim Holtz have released the new Distress Oxide Ink Pads, a water-reactive dye and pigment ink fusion that creates an oxidized effect when sprayed with water. You can use these inks with stamps, stencils, watercolor brushes and direct to surface. Blend using Ink Blending Tools and Foam. All oxide colors are available in 3” x 3” ink pads and coordinating .5oz re-inkers.

When I watched Tim Holtz’ video introduction I was impressed but not convinced I needed them.  Then I watched Jennifer McGuire’s video and completely changed my mind.  Please take a minute (well about 30 minutes) and watch these videos to see how these inks are different from all other inks.

Color-chartThe inks should be available later this month.  To reserve yours, please send me an email and let me know what you want.  They are sure to sell out quickly so don’t delay, reserve today!  Individual ink pads will be $6.25 each and you can save 10% by reserving all 12 ink pads. And while you’re buying ink pads, don’t forget to buy another set of replacement foam pads for your Ink Blending Tool because you will want to have pads just for the oxide inks.

Pretty Spring Cards

Hello friends.  Our recent warmer weather and my desire to wish winter away has turned my thoughts to pretty flowers and lush greenery.  And no one does flower dies as well as Memory Box and Poppystamps.  I recently re-ordered the ever popular Poppystamps die Massa Leaf Frame which lets you make a very impressive card quickly.  It cuts all the leaves and the frame so all you have to do is fill the opening with whatever you like.  You can see I chose mostly butterflies!

For this first card I chose the very preppy (am I dating myself with that term?) color combo of bright green and dark pink.  Be sure to click on the card to see it close up -- on the left you will see the new Eyelet Stitches dies from Poppystamps.  They make a really beautiful border and add just that extra little something that finishes the card beautifully.Welcome-SpringWelcome Spring – Poppystamps dies Massa Leaf Frame, Eyelet Stitches and Dream Butterfly; Savvy Stamps sentiment; design inspired by Mona Pendleton

I used the same color combo on this card, but instead of die cutting the frame I used it to emboss the background.  I filled the opening with white cardstock and mounted two butterflies (Memory Box dies Darla and Isabella) in the center.Pink-Tall-CardButterfly Kisses -- Poppystamps die Massa Leaf Frame; Memory Box dies Darla and Isabella.

For the next card I embossed the white mat with the Memory Box stencil Mini Dots and added a vellum layer to the butterfly.  Adding little touches like these really “amp” up your cards to the next level!Pink-Tall-CardBlue Butterfly -- Poppystamps die Massa Leaf Frame; Memory Box dies Darla and Vivienne; Memory Box stencil Mini Dots.

This soft pink card is oversized (4" x 8") and makes a very pretty statement.

Pink-Tall-CardPink Butterfly -- Poppystamps dies Massa Leaf Frame, Groovy Flower and Classic Ribbons; Memory Box dies Pippi and Isabella.

No matter what color youi choose this frame can handle it!  I love the red!

Pink-Tall-CardRed Butterfly -- Poppystamps die Massa Leaf Frame; Memory Box dies Pippi and Isabella; Hero Arts sentiment.  Card is 4½” x 6¼".

Finally I used something other than a butterfly!  What a cute Easter card this frame makes with bunnies and flowers and a stenciled background.

Pink-Tall-CardBunny Frame – Poppy dies Massa Leaf Frame, Chocolate Bunnies and Hydrangea Blooms small; Taylored Expressions die Hippity Hop; Memory Box stencil Texture Disperse; design inspired by Sherry Hester

One final card that shows that this frame is versatile enough to handle a shabby chic design.  I love the nuetral color palette.

Avery-Elle-ThanksI hope you enjoyed seeing the versatility of this pretty die. It's availbale along with many others at The Stamp Act now!

Big "Half Dollar" Sale

Spring has given me the "itch" to clean house and move things around the store.  As I did, I pulled lots of stuff for the sale table.  Before I could even announce it, customers were already scopping up the values.  I have a large number of stamps and miscelaneous merchandise on sale for $.50.  Plus a large selection of Christmas, Halloween and Fall dies and stamps on sale at 30% off.  I do not have room to keep this sale table going indefinitely so please come in before the end of the month -- assuming there's anything left!

Brand New Merchandise

OMG!  There's a lot of new merchandise coming your way soon -- like this week! Check it out on our What's New Page (click here or on the navigation bar above) to see all the new goodies.  If you see something you want please email me or call me at 915-833-9500 so I can hold it for you for a few days.

One item we just got in is the new larger 10" x 10" Stamp Perfect.  I got in 6 yesterday and 4 were sold within hours!  The smaller version is out of stock at the manufacturer until mid-March :( so grab this one if you don't have one.  This tool is truly revolutionary and trust me once you start using it you will be so happy you have it!

And FYI: I do have a limited number of the bar magnets for the Stamp Perfect if you are interested.

And speaking of the Stamp Perfect, my class this Saturday will show you more than 10 ways to use this great tool.  Check it out and sign up.  And if you'd rather come at another time, just give me a call to arrange a time.

Well that's all for now.  I hope to see you soon at The Stamp Act!

Bold Balloons Using the Stamp Perfect

Hello friends. Today's blog is all about birthdays and balloons.  What's impressive about these cards is not so much the final results -- although I hope you like the cards -- it's the technique for achieving them.  If you recently bought the Stamp Perfect stamp positioning tool or if you have another brand tool, you can learn these techniques in my Birthday class on Saturday, February 4th at 10am.  You will learn how to mass produce stamped die cuts; how to perfectly align two images (in this case the string on the balloon); and how to repeatedly stamp an image in a perfect row.  I hope you can join us -- I promise you will have fun and learn a lot!

For more information on classes, please click on the Classes link on the Navigation Bar above.

This next card is an example of creating a border by repeatedly stamping a word, in this case "happy."  You will learn a couple ways to do this technique.Happy-BirthdayHappy Birthday – Paper Smooches stamp set Fun & Flirty; Paper Smooches die Happy Birthday; design inspired by Penny Ward

Mirror image stamping is trending these days because using the Mirror Image Blocks from Paper Smooches and the Stamp Perfect makes it easy.  Aren't these the cutest little dogs?!!  I will be teaching this technique in the Introduction to the Stamp Perfect class on Saturday, February 4 at 2pm.Dog-WonderfulDogs Wonderful – Paper Smooches stamp sets Woofers & Tweeters and Mirror Blocks; Paper Smooches dies Woofers and Linked Hearts; Taylored Expressions die Falling Hearts; design inspired by Jennifer McGuire

More cute dogs achieved with mirror image stamping.  And another tip:  I die cut the "Smooches" sentiment from red cardstock and did not remove the word.  Then I inked the entire piece with Versamark ink and embossed it with Iridescent embossing powder.  Easy way to achieve a sparkling sentiment for your card!Dog-SmoochesDogs Smooches – Paper Smooches stamp sets Woofers & Tweeters and Mirror Blocks; Paper Smooches die Smooches; Taylored Expressions die Falling Hearts; Memory Box die Glorious Hearts; design inspired by Jennifer McGuire

Thanks for stopping by today.  I look forward to seeing you soon!
