Laurel Burch Dog Park Samples

Hello friends and welcome to another blog post featuring the wonderful, whimsical stamps of Laurel Burch.  For these cards I colored all the dogs channeling LB by juxtaposing bright colors on all the dogs.  You have to let yourself go and just have fun coloring.

My first card is a pop-up card.  On the outside of the card I used a wonderful pice of decorative paper with a very collage feel.  I added another piece of black and white polka dot paper for the dog to stand on, stamped and embossed the greeting in white and added some whimsical motif stamps from another LB set in black.

Inside of the card is a pop-up!  I used a set of pop up dies from Stampendous and they made it super easy.

My next card features another dog in the set, standing in the grass created with a new die from TE called grassy Hills.  There are three dies in the set and they make it easy to cut and layer grassy hills.

My next card is an easel card with the dogs standing in front of a sun rise background.  The butterfly is from the LB set called Indigo Cats.

And this next sample proves you can keep it simple and still have a cool card!  I stamped the Zig Zag Cats in black and added a little color with black, grey, red and blue.

A Potpouri of Cards

Hello fellow papercrafters!  Imagine my surprise when I glanced out my kitchen window to see two deer munching on my elm tree's leaves.  There is desert behind my back yard and neighbors have told me they had seen deer, but this was my first time.  They looked as surprised to see me and quickly hurried off.

New Product

Has this ever happened to you?  I was wearing a brand new (somewhat expensive) blouse and refilling a Copic marker – red of course.  The bottle slipped out of my hand and a drop of bright red ink flew across my table and landed right on my new blouse.  Permanent ink ... Yikes!  Oh I was so sad and mad… ugh!  What to do?  I took the shirt home, hung it in the closet and prayed something would occur to me that would take out the stain. 

Weeks later I got an email about a stain remover called Amodex.  That reminded me that years ago my good friend and fellow stamper Kathi had told me about this product.  I ordered Amodex and when it arrived I tried it on the shirt.  Miracles do happen!  Amodex took every bit of the ink out of the shirt.  Honestly – the red ink is gone without a trace!

Amodex is a totally eco-friendly ink and stain remover that works on all inks from ballpoint and gel to permanent markers. It will remove Stazon inks which you know are permanent inks.  The nontoxic formula is designed for use on clothing (including wool), carpeting, furniture, surfaces and skin.  It also removes food stains, grease, toner, blood and more.  Amodex is soap and will not harm surfaces or the environment.

Potpouri of Cards

Today's blog also brings you a variety of different cards from funny to serious.  I made this first card for my neice who is a veterinarian in a very large practice in Las Vegas.  She recently told me that she spends a lot of time trying to please customers who argue with her about the fees they charge for treating pets.  I felt so sorry for her being placed in such an uncomfortable position.  I think this card will make her laugh and remind her how hard it is to please everyone.

The next two cards demonstrate ways to create easy textured backgrounds.  I created the background on the  Feathers card by embossing the Taylored Expressions Southwest background die using the rubber mat in my Vagabond die cutting machine.  Embossing dies is a great way to stretch your dies.  If you haven't embossed in a while, please "google" embossing on your particular machine so you can make sure you know the proper "sandwich" to run through.  NEVER force your sandwich through your machine -- you will regret it!  Ask me how I know!!!Feathers – Impression Obsession die Feathers; Taylored Expressions die Southwest Background; My Favorite Things die Arrows; Tim Holtz die set Adventure words

For the next card I again embossed, this time using a plastic stencil.  Be sure to double click on the photo to see the background.  When you are embossing a die or a stencil you may need to use a few quarter cards of cardstock to shim the sandwich to get a deep impression.Budding Peony – Memory Box die Budding Peony; Impression Obsession dies Vases and Edgers Everyday; Memory Box stencil Garden Peony

Cards with Laurel Burch stamps

Hello friends.  Today I will share with you some finished samples using the new Laurel Burch stamps.  I will admit the coloring was challenging and I found that my third sample was usually much better than my first two.  My friend Jane Smith created two of the cards (as noted) and we both used Copic markers.  I love the stamps and found that once I had selected the colors to use, I enjoyed coloring the images and seeing them come alive.
