Doggy Get Well Cards ... and Spring Cleaning!

With Chloe's birthday just passed, I have had dogs on my mind.  This stamp set is so much fun.  It includes 4 dog images, 5 great sentiments and several other icons to use with these images.  I had a lot of fun making these cards so let me share them with you.              Art Impressions clear stamp set, Doggy Kisses

For my first card I stamped the dog with cone then masked it (using masking paper) so I could create a colorful background using Distress Oxide inks. Once I got the colors the way I wanted them, I spritzed the background with water to create the spots you see.  Next I removed the mask and colored the dog using Copic markers.  I stamped the dog paws using the same colors used on the background and "Ouch" with Versafine Black ink.  I die cut the focal panel with Memory Box Cross Stitch Rectangles.  I love the sentiment!

My sister used to call her dog "Licky Dog" because she gave so many kisses.  This pup would definitely qualify as a Licky Dog and the sentiment says it all! Love the yellow and gray color combination.  Here I am presenting the outside and inside of the card.

This dachshund's long body serves as the perfect foil to the sentiment. I made a simple background using the dog paw in the set. Cottage Cutz Get Well Dies

For even more humorous get well cards I turned to the new Cottage Cutz dies: Chicken Soup and Nurse Puppy. 

Every image that you see in the photos above can be created with the die.  Cottage Cutz packs their dies with every little piece to make each scene realistic.  Let me share with you the cards I made.

To create this card, I cut the die from different colors of cardstock then glued everything together.  I did darken the words "chicken noodle soup" to make them stand out more.

The Nurse Puppy is very detailed with each icon (bandaid, stethoscope, thermometer, nurse's hat, ice bag, syringe, etc) having multiple parts to make them look realistic

I created the next card by cutting a center step card from a half piece of cardstock (black).

Spring Cleaning

I am giving the store a deep cleaning and you will be the beneficiary as I uncover product that I am selling at rock bottom prices.  I have Grab Bags for $1 to $3 as well as boxes of products for prices from 0.50 cents to a few dollars.  I have everything from stickers, stamps, punches, papers, blank cards, book kits etc. etc!  Stop in and see what you can't live without.  I will be putting more product out as I continue to clean.  Don't miss the bargains!

Laurel Burch Dog Park Samples

Hello friends and welcome to another blog post featuring the wonderful, whimsical stamps of Laurel Burch.  For these cards I colored all the dogs channeling LB by juxtaposing bright colors on all the dogs.  You have to let yourself go and just have fun coloring.

My first card is a pop-up card.  On the outside of the card I used a wonderful pice of decorative paper with a very collage feel.  I added another piece of black and white polka dot paper for the dog to stand on, stamped and embossed the greeting in white and added some whimsical motif stamps from another LB set in black.

Inside of the card is a pop-up!  I used a set of pop up dies from Stampendous and they made it super easy.

My next card features another dog in the set, standing in the grass created with a new die from TE called grassy Hills.  There are three dies in the set and they make it easy to cut and layer grassy hills.

My next card is an easel card with the dogs standing in front of a sun rise background.  The butterfly is from the LB set called Indigo Cats.

Papercrafting Christmas Presents, Part 1

Hello Friends.  Thanks for stopping by.  As we near the holiday season and begin thinking about gifts for loved ones, don't forget that we have our hobby affords us the opportunity to create gifts that are unique and personalized.  My niece is a brand new veterinarian and she was so dismayed and upset when her first pet patient died.  I thought she would feel better if she had a lovely card to send the patient's owner so I pulled out all my pet stamps and dies and started creating cards.  The primary stamp set I used is Taylored Expressions' Care & Comfort - Pets:

For this card I embossed the background with the Puppy Paws (my name) embossing folder from Marianne.

This card has multiple layers.  The scalloped frame in the background is topped with brown and red layers and finally another kraft layer embossed with hearts. I used more embossing too on the little ball (TE embossing folder Weathered) and the doghouse (Bead Board).

For this card I used brighter colors, multiple layers and embossing in the background.

I love this card but it was a little difficult to create.  The paws were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in white on the red heart.  Then I had to hold the heart over the front of the card face and figure out where to stamp the paws again in black, lining them up with the white paws.  It's not hard, just a little tedious.

My first cat sympathy card features a Paper Smooches cat die (Cat Icons).

I love this card.  It has been my go-to sympathy card for friend's pets.  Here's a tip on how to create it.  I cut white cardstock to 4.25" x 5.50" and then die cut it with the paws die 4 times, essentially creating a template or stencil.  Next I cut the paws from colored cardstock, keeping each paw (5 pieces) together in a little pile.  Then I placed the cardstock template over the white card and glued the paws into the openings.  This technique allows you to have the paws perfectly mounted on top of the card.

A paw on a red heart says it all.  The heart background paper keeps with the red, white and black color format.

National Spoil Your Dog Day

Hello Friends.  I hope everyone is having a good week.  I must tell you that it's a delight to come to work these days as my new refrigerated air conditioner is keeping the store so cool.  Chloe is enjoying it too and sleeping much more comfortably.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

Hello Friends.  I sat down recently in my stamping studio with two Penny Black clear stamp sets featuring a lot of cute dogs and one fabulous duck!  Once I started I couldn't stop making cards so please enjoy them all.  My precious Chloe is struggling with old age right now so it was fun to play with these stamps and remember her younger days.  I am grateful for every day I have with her.

OMG Mom –This card may need an explanation.  My niece Emilee just graduated from veterinary college at Texas A & M University.  Yeah!  She and her 2 dogs will soon be moving to start work at a veterinary practice in Las Vegas, Nevada.  I thought this would be a cute congratulatory card to send her from her dogs!  Inside the sentiment "we did it!" would be appropriate!
