Memory Box Pincecone Frame die

First a correction:  The link I added last time for more info on Stick It didn't work so please go Here for a better link to this informative video.

The pinecone frame is gorgeous and since it die cuts the negative of the image, you simply place colored cardstock behind it to show the pinecones.  Here are some samples:

Stencil-cardStencil – Memory Box die Pinecone Frame; sentiment Amuse Art Stamps

For this card I die cut the pinecone frame from white cardstock then used it as a stencil.  I laid it over another piece of white cardstock and inked the pinecones with Rusty Hinge Distress Ink.  I then die cut the branch from brown cardstock and inlaid it into the white frame.  I mounted this piece on some deep orange cardstock and then onto a kraft card.

WatercolorWatercolor – Memory Box dies Pinecone Frame, Pine Needles; Pastry Labels; Memory Box stamp Vintage Dreams; Memory Box stencil Texture Splatter Spray; sentiment Memory Box; design inspired by Jenny Griffiths

For this card I watercolored the background using Distress inks: Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass on watercolor paper from Hero Arts.  Then I stamped the background with the text stamp and distressed the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress ink.  For a final touch I stenciled the background with Rusty Hinge ink.  I mounted this background over brown cardstock then onto white card then onto a deep orange card.  The pine needles were cut and added for a perfect fall card!

Distress-BkgrdDistress Ink – Memory Box dies Pinecone Frame, Pine Needles; Pastry Labels; Memory Box stamp Vintage Dreams; sentiment Memory Box; design inspired by Bibiana Martinez-Ziegler

For this background I used the same Distress inks and the new round Ink Blending Too.

Embossing-PasteEmbossing Paste – Memory Box dies Pinecone Frame and Forest Pine; Penny Black die World of Wishes; Memory Box Stencil Splatter Spray; Dreamweaver embossing paste; design inspired by Donna Sledzik

I published this one a week ago.  Here I inlaid the brown pinecone "pieces" and added green Forest Pine branches.  Embossing paste adds "snow" to the card.

Gingerbread Men and Halloween Sale

Hello friends.  I have some sweet trreats for you today.  I found a couple of very sweet cards on the Memory Box blog and recreated them to give you an idea of how to use some of the new Memory Box dies.

Stick It Die Adhesive -- I wrote a couple posts ago that the exciting new Stick It die adhesive was coming to The Stamp Act.  Stick It is a micro-thin double sided adhesive sheet that is specially formulated to work with all kind sof dies and electronic die cutting machines like the Cricket or Cameo.  I have tried it several times and it is easy and works great.  Here's a video with Ken Oliver, the inventor of Stick It, that will show you how it works.  I used Stick It for the tiny details on the gingerbread men below.  I applied Stick It to white cardstock then die cut with the Ginerbread Men Decorations die and adhered the little pieces to the men.  Easy!  Stop in for a demo of Stick It adhesive!

Ginger-Men-1Holiday Treat – Memory Box dies Precious Gingerbread Men, Gingerbread Men Decorations, Swirled Lollipops and Tiny Candy Canes; Memory Box stamp Candy Cane Stripes; sentiment: Memory Box; design inspired by Jean Okimoto

I am sorry this photo isn't very clear.  The little bows are part of the Gingerbread Men die.

Ginger-Men-2Jolly Gingerbread Men – Memory Box dies Precious Gingerbread Men, Gingerbread Men Decorations, Swirled Lollipops, Tiny Candy Canes, Ho Ho Holly Leaves and Holly Branch; Memory Box stamp Candy Cane Stripes; sentiment: Memory Box; design inspired by Pam Sparks

Lots of little details makes this a "wow" card.

3 Christmas Cards

Snowfall-1Snowfall Spruce tree – Remember stamping?  All the supplies for this card are from Memory Box.  The new Snowfall stamp makes a beautiful snowy background in minutes.  For the Spruce tree card, I stamped Snowfall in Versamark and embossed it in opaque white.  Then I die cut the Resting Birds from red felt and the Frosted Spruce Tree from silver glitter paper.  I adhered the tree with foam tape and the birds with Tombow Multi glue then added a little star (Paper Smooches die Stars) cut from red glitter cardstock.  The sentiment was stamped in Memento Love Letter.  A beautiful card that is quick and easy. (designer: Jean Okimoto)

Snowfall-2Snowfall Pine Trees – For the pretty blue card I stamped the Snowfall background in Versamark then sprinkled on Iridescent Sparkle embossing powder. Then I stamped each Pine Tree (small) and sprinkled on opaque white embossing powder.  Then I heat embossed the entire scene.  The sentiment is also Memory Box and it is stamped in Memento Danube Blue. (designer: Sue Trembeth)

Pinecone-FramePinecone Frame – Memory Box dies Pinecone Frame and Forest Pine; Penny Black die World of Wishes; Memory Box Stencil Splatter Spray; Dreamweaver embossing paste; designer: Donna Sledzik

For this card I inlaid the pinecones and branch in brown into the beige cardstock.  Then I cut three Frosted Pine branches and cut them down a little and glued them onto the branch.  After everything was glued down, I applied the embossing paste through the stencil over the entire card.

These are just a vert few of the many holiday dies that we have in stock.  Please shop with us soon!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

OndasherondancerHi friends.  Taylored Expressions' new "On Dasher, On Dancer" Santa die is perfect for holiday card making.  He can be flying over a neighborhood, dashing through the snow, soaring through a beautiful night sky or hovering on a tag!

Check out these samples.  All the patterend paper is also from Taylored expressions new Gingerbread Lane 6" x 6" paper pad which has 12 delightful and colorful holiday patterns.

TE also has new embossing folders for the holidays: Snowfall and Music.  So many wonderful products to use in your holiday card making.  Stop in and see them soon!

Santa-Believe-MagicMany of you know I love to make backgrounds with inks and jumbo daubers.  For this background I used the new round Ink Blending Tool and Distress Inks Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves and Salty Ocean.  These inks blend beautifully and react to water.  For the night stars I mixed a little Ranger's Pearl Perfect Pearls in a little water using a watercolor brush then applied it by tapping the brush over the background.  Then I repeated this technique with just water for a little different look.

Santa Believe in Magic – Taylored Expressions dies On Dasher, On Dancer and Neighborhood Border; Sentiment: The Cat’s Pajamas (retired); designer: Cassie Trask

Santa-over-neighborhoodHow fun is this card?  Santa is soaring over the neighborhood.  The sky was created using TE's Cloud Border, Memento London Fog ink and a jumbo dauber.  The moon was sponged with a little Memento Tangelo ink to add depth and dimensio.  And the new TE Little Bits Christmas Trees are perfectly sized for this cute little scene.

More Christmas cards are coming -- you can see them in person at The Stamp Act.  Stop in soon.

New Adhesive for Die Cuts

A7495c26-c950-4cd5-b3fa-7b4045cbb52cHello and thanks for reading my blog today.  As you can imagine, I see hundreds of new products every week.  Rarely does a product make me drop everything and order it right away.  But yesterday I got an email alert from one of my vendors and I did just that.

As popular and wonderful as dies are, we all hate the gluing!  It’s a messy job even with the best adhesives.  Now there’s a new adhesive that will let you adhere those delicate die cuts perfectly every time.  It's called Stick It.

Stick It is a brand new adhesive that makes the whole process of applying adhesive to intricate die-cut shapes quick and easy.  Stick It is incredibly thin - not much more than a piece of copy paper - yet it encompasses a high tech adhesive that is strong enough to endure the incredible pressure of die-cutting machines, yet pliable enough to match the contours of your intricate die-cut shapes without squeezing out of the edges or leaving a sticky residue on your dies and equipment.

Stick It will allow you to do so much more with your die-cutting machine. For example, Stick It is so thin, it's possible to sandwich your card stock between two layers of adhesive (i.e. applied to both the front and back of cardstock) - and run it through your machine.

When using it this way, the silicone release paper naturally assists with the process of removing the die-cut shape from the die. Once you've removed the backing paper from the front, the adhesive layer provides the perfect surface for the application of glitters, flocking and more. The results are stunning and so easy to achieve!  Stick It is completely acid free and is water based, and the adhesive has been specially formulated to remain repositionable when first applied and become permanent over time.

Stick It comes in a package of 5 sheets in either the Handy size (6½” x 8” for $6.09) and Large size (8” x 12¼” for $8.99).

PLEASE NOTE:  The information above is from the manufacturer.  I have not tested this product.  My first order should be in stock by Thursday, October 16.  Call me (915-833-9500) or email me to reserve your Stick It sheets now because they will sell out quickly!!!

New dies from Taylored Expressions

Taylored Expression has a new release with lots of fun dies, paper, sequins and embossing folders.  Here are a few samples.

Seasonal-Trees-aquaSeasonal Trees Aqua – Taylored Expressions die Seasonal Trees; Impression Obsession die Evergreen Trees; Sizzix embossing folder; Memory Box sentiment stamp; designer: Joan Ervin

I die cut the trees twice: once from white cardstock then from white glitter cardstock.  Then I put scor tape on the back of the trees (at bottom) and inserted the glitter paper into the sticky openings.

Seasonal-Trees-glitterSeasonal Trees Glitter – Taylored Expressions die Seasonal Trees; Impression Obsession die Fir trees; Taylored Expressions paper Gingerbread Lane; Memory Box sentiment stamp; designer: Taylored Expressions

Same technique here but it's all glitter cardstock.  Love the new Gingerbread Lane Paper pack!

Santa-Be-MerrySanta Be Merry – Taylored Expressions die Label Stacklets 9, Mitten garland and On Dahser, On Dancer; Cuttlebug embossing folder Snow Dots; Taylored Expressions paper Gingerbread Lane; designer: Joam Ervin

The Label Stacklets 9 die set comes with graduated sizes, but for the black mat I simply traced the outside of the largest die and cut it out.  It makes a nice mat for the embossed die cut.

Thanks for reading the blog.  Stop in soon and see all the new products for yourself!
