Quick … I need a Birthday Card!
September 17, 2014
How many times have you forgotten about a friend’s birthday until literally the last minute? I know I have had to hurriedly search for an appropriate card more than once. That’s one reason I love the new “Up, Up & Away” die from Taylored Expressions and the accompanying “In & Out Birthday” stamp set full of great birthday sentiments. Because the die comes with 2 separate balloons it is super easy to cut the balloon frame from one color and the separate balloons from another at the same time. Then just glue the balloons over the framed balloons and you are almost done. You can use the balloons separate from the frame too, plus don’t think only birthday cards – see the thank you and Halloween cards below. This is a great die and I had a lot of fun playing with it.
Another reason these cards were quick to put together are the new papers that Taylored Expressions is now offering. For most of these cards I used the new Double the Fun papers which come in a boy and girl color ways. For the Halloween card I used the new Hocus Pocus papers. And I also used the brand new coordinating sequins from Taylored Expressions.
Other supplies I used on these cards: I embossed the black background on the Halloween card with Memory Box stencil Distressed Web. The Thank You sentiment is from My Favorite Things Birthday greetings and it is stamped on Taylored Expressions die Band It. The pink cloud background was made using Taylored Expressions die Cloud Border and pink ink, and the “curlies” were made using TE die Curly Border. The Halloween card sentiment is from Impression Obsession clear stamp set Which Witch. The party hats were made by cutting a 1” square into a triangle and decorating it with a border from the Memory Box die set Petite Cakes and a flower from Memory Box Primula Bloom.
Designers inspiring these cards include: Joan Ervin, Shannon White, Shelly Mercado, Jeanne Streiff and Kendra Wiestock.
