Last Days of Summer

It's hard to believe that it's Labor Day weekend already, but before summer slips away completely, I want to share with you some fun cards using a variety of dies and stamps that will remind you of summer flowers, butterflies and gardens.

Vignette-FloraVignette Floral – Memory Box dies Vignette Floral Branch and A Little Thanks; Taylored Expressions die Lattice Background; Designer: Pam Sparks

Just die cut the floral in green, blueberry dot and white and piece together.  Cut it again in green to tuck little branches around the checked paper background.  TE's Lattice die is a perfect background!

Floating-ButterfliesFloating Butterflies – Memory Box die Floating Butterflies Background; Memory Box stencil Garden Peony Blossoms; Impression Obsession die Sentiments; Designer: Sue T.

The background and butterflies are embossed with the Peony stencil. Butterflies are colored with memento inks and jumbo daubers.  Easy  peasy!

Birdcage-LatticeBirdcage Lattice Garden – Taylored Expressions die Lattice Background; Poppystamps dies Tall Grass, Carolina Birdhouse and Brighton Flower Border; Memory Box dies Gold Finch and Butterfly Delights.

Die cut the lattice from the new EK Success Texture paper "natural."  How summery!

Polaroid-FlowersPolaroid Flowers – Penny Black die Polaroid; Penny Black clear stamp sets Friendship Flowers and Footnotes; Designer: Jill Foster.

The Polaroid die comes wiht the scallopped quote balloon.

Please stop in and shop soon.  Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Christmas Cards

It's time to start thinking (and making) Christmas cards so here are some ideas.

I love this new Merry Background stamp.  It is a bold stamp so I inked it in black on white cardstock then embossed it in black.  Then I added color to the words using the new round ink blending tool or jumbo daubers and Memento or Hero Arts inks.  The color on the blue card didn't photograph well -- it's a lot prettier in person.  Quick and easy and colorful!  And the new Curled Ribbons die is fabulous -- it really adds the perfect touch!

Merry Background 1 – All from Memory Box: Merry Background stamp, Pine Border Background die, and Merry Little Christmas stamp; Designer: Jean Okimoto

Merry Background 3 – All from Memory Box: Merry Background stamp, Cabrini Ornament die, Curled Ribbons die, script stamp; Designer: Jean Okimoto

Merry-Bkgrd-2Merry Background 2 – All from Memory Box: Merry Background stamp and Pine Border Background die; Designer: Jean Okimoto

This is even easier.  Ink stamp in Versamark and emboss in white on red cardstock.  Cut out and layer with colorful papers and the Pine Tree Background die.

Pink-Gold-Cabrini-OrnaPink Ornament – Memory Box dies Cabrini Ornament and Curled Ribbons; Sizzix embossing folder Christmas Words; Designer: Jean Okimoto

Cut the ornament and curled ribbons from gold mirror card then inlay the pink ornament and green leaves and berries.  Mount on an embossed background, add a few sequins and you're done!

Dazzling-SnowflakeSilver Snowflake – All from Memory Box: Dazzling Snowflake die; Merry Christmas stamp; silver glitter paper; Designer: Pam Sparks

This photo makes the snowflake look like an embossed stamp, but it is actually a die cut snowflake that's mounted over silver glitter paper.  Just emboss the sentiment in silver!

Madison-Door-HollyChristmas Door – Poppystamps die Grand Madison Window; Memory Box die Plush Bow;  Savvy Stamps die Holly Leaves; Sizzix embossing folder Christmas Words; Designer: Jean Manis

Ok, this one takes a little longer but what a cute card!

We've got lots more ideas for Christmas so stop in soon and see what's new!

This is the large Sugar Skull stamp stamped on white or kraft and colored with colored pencils.  The white skull is cut out and mounted using a Wobbler so it moves!  The kraft skull is surrounded with marigolds which is a traditional flower for decorating day of the dead shrines.

Sugar-Skull-smI have also ordered the new Halloween dies from Deadbeat including: Sugar Skull small, ghost, Skeleton hands, and Dia de los Muertos.  These along with lots of other new dies and stamps will be coming this week and next!

Memory Box die sale ends Sat, August 23 so don't miss the bargains plus your free catalog!

Chalkboard Easel Cards

TeachingHere’s a new card layout that I ran across on the My Favorite Things website.  It ,ay look complicated but it’s super easy!  Simply cut a 8½”  x 11” piece of black cardstock in half lengthwise so it’s 4¼” x 11”.  Score at 5½” then select a rectangle die and cut the bottom of the card so it has “legs.”  You can cut both sides of the card at once.  Either stamp white cardstock with a woodgrain stamp in light/medium brown or emboss white cardstock with a woodgrain embossing folder (Sizzix or Darice). Measure the width of the “legs” and cut strips to form the four sides of the easel.  Stamp your sentiment in the middle of the chalkboard (I used Hero Arts Unicorn white ink) and add any embellishments.

Birthday-balloonsFor the Birthday Card Easel sentiment, I used a Hero Arts birthday set and Paper Smooches Scripty Sayings clear set.  I cut Penny Black die Uplifting (balloons) from colored cardstock and made the “strings” from wired twine (we sell it).  I added some round metallic circles in black.

For the Teacher Easel I used a stamp (Love Teaching) and a die (Blackboard) from Taylored Expressions and an apple from the Mixed Fruit die from Memory Box.

Explore the possibilities that this layout has!  It is really quick and easy!

Miss-YouMissing You – For this card I cut a top-fold card (4 1/4" x 11") from white cardstock and cut the top fold of the card with the Memory Box Arched Background die using partial die-cutting.  Then I secured the Memory Box Lathenay Stencil on the bottom of the card with Post-it tape and applied Versamark ink through the stencil.  I removed the stencil and embossed the card in gold embossing powder.  On the top of the card I embossed a stamp from the Paper Smooches Scripty Sayings clear stamp set in gold and added two gold half pearls.  Quick and easy!  Designer Sue T.

Purr-fectly Cute Cat Cards!

Recently I need some “cat” cards for birthdays and fortunately Paper Smooches just came out with a couple of new clear stamp sets and die set featuring our furry friends.  How fun it was to customize a birthday card to a good friend and family.  These cards were all made using Paper Smooches clear stamp sets Feline Friends and Charmed Cats and Paper Smooches die Cat Icons.  Note the additional supplies listed below and the designer’s name.

Halloween 1Chloe tried out her Halloween costume recently.  I think she thought if she dressed up she would get some treats -- which of course she did!  She deserves extra treats because she's been so patient as I have had workers all over the house putting on a new roof and repairing the leaks inside.  Come and see Chloe at the store most days.

The Taylored Expressions Bracket Notecard die (3” x 3”) is so much fun!  Not only can you use this die to make notecards, enclosure cards or gift card holders, but this die makes great lollipop covers!  Since Halloween is coming I thought I would make some for using Halloween motifs.  The possibilities are endless so use these ideas a springboard into your own creativity!

Simply die cut the bracket notecard out of cardstock; stamp the design directly on the front of the notecard (optional: emboss in black); position lollipop in notecard and mark punch holes for ribbon; punch holes (I used the Japanese screwpunch); put a little strip of scor tape (double-sided tape) on the back of the lollipop; place lollipop in notecard and close the front; string ribbon through holes and tie into a bow.  How cute and easy!
