A Few Tips and Tricks
The wooden plan background was stamped in walnut ink Distress ink then watercolored with the same ink. Just swipe your pad on a craft sheet or acrylic block and pick up the color with a watercolor brush. Try not to make the color uniform – lighter in the center and darker on the edges looks great. When finished, use heat tool to dry, flipping the paper over to heat the back will help prevent curling.
Use Tonic distress tool to rough up edges then distress edges with ink.
Mini brads are a masculine embellishment.
The Texas Word die is cut out of silver mirror cardstock.
For the glitter Texas card, I die cut the largest of the Texas Trio dies, stamped a scrap of off white cardstock with The Eyes of Texas script and taped it behind the Texas opening. I outlines the opening with glitter glue then gently set the Texas Word die cut down on the glue. Hold it in place a few minutes then set aside to dry. Use a few drops of wet glue (Tombow Multi is my choice) behind the word die for added adherence.
Deadbeat’s Texas Flag die comes with the large Texas shape and the dies for the red and blue portions of the flag. To make a smaller Texas Flag I simply die cut the largest of the Texas Trio (lg, med and sm Texas shapes) out of red, white and blue paper then followed the lines of the (larger) Texas Flag die and handcut the shapes. Super easy!
A good friend recently took a trip to China and she brought me a beautiful pair of jade earings. Here’s the thank you card I made for her.
Deadbeat Designs stamp Thelma; Penny Black clear stamp set Kind Words.
“Thelma” could be saying anything – and Deadbeat Designs has some hilarious sentiments like “You’re never as young as you are today” and “you’re old … get over it!” These stamps make a very funny and unexpected birthday card!
Sweet as Pie
One of my neighbors presented me with a pie last week as an apology for her son’s mischief – no harm done but it was a teachable moment when she trotted him down to my house to say he was sorry. The poor little boy was shaking so hard he could barely get the words out! It really was touching and the pie was delicious! Here’s the thank you card I made for her.
