Masculine Samples and More!

I just got the Xcut “Haberdashery” die cut set back in stock.  You can see from the photo that this set includes 20 dies – for only $25.99!  That’s a great bargain!  Here are 2 samples I made using this set.  BTW:  I also have the kitchen set in stock so come in and see these fun sets for yourself.  On the sewing samples, the sentiments are from Hero Arts "Sew Artsy" and the paper is Carta Bella "Sew Lovely."

Last week I showed you cards made with the Lily Die-namics die from My Favorite Things; now I want to share samples made with the Wildflower Centerpieces die.  This die is called a centerpiece because it cuts the frame with the wildflowers and stems (attached to the frame) then cuts the flowers themselves separately so you can easily glue them over the framed flowers for a 2 tone look.  Here are some samples:

Wildflowers-sunsetFor the card with the pastel flowers, I used the “Shine” stencil from Memory Box to create the sunny background.  The sentiment is from another new MFT set called “Sunflower Sweetheart.”  The sunset card was created using the new round ink blending tool (Tim Holtz for Ranger) and various distress inks.  The sentiment is from Stampendous.

Rhapsody-color-worldI used another Memory Box stencil (Rhapsody) to create this card (inspired by one on the Memory Box blog).  I colored the stencil with Distress inks then embossed the stencil on another piece of white cardstock,  Once embossed, I cut it in half diagonally and framed the colored stencil.  The sentiment was die cut using the Impression Obsession Typewriter Alphabet die (lower case).

GearsHere’s a fun card I copied from the Memory Box blog. It features the Gears Border die and the Mini Gears die.  The background and sentiment are from Stampendous – gears were stamped in Versamark then embossed in clear.  This could be a great masculine card for a new graduate, new job or even Father’s Day.

Switching “gears” (ha! ha!) to a pretty card for a new graduate, this bird is perfect.  I used dies from Impression Obsession including: Large Bird on Branch, Square Shaker and Typewriter Alphabet lower case.  For the sentiment inside I used the new “You Can Fly” clear stamp set form IO.  I used one other die – Spellbinders Squares small. This card was inspired by one on the IO blog and there are a few tricks to it to hide the adhesives.

MITI-ShipDo you need a card from Father’s Day or a male birthday?  This one from Impression Obsession is perfect for any male occasion.  All stamps are from IO: Roped Ship, Wooden Plank background, Happy Father’s Day and Happy Birthday.  It is stamped in Walnut Stain Distress ink then watercolored with the same ink.  This card will be an added bonus card to all classes in June! (Language Police -- yes it needs an apostrophe -- we will add one when we make the card!!!)

I hope your Memorial Day weekend was fun.  I was all ready to use my new smoker and the heating element wouldn’t heat up!  The chicken was already in the frig being brined so I had to quickly regroup and roast it in the oven.  It was delicious!  A new heating element is on its way so I don’t have to take it apart and try to box it up again!

Stop in soon and see all the new goodies at The Stamp Act!

New Samples from Deadbeat Designs, My Favorite Things and Penny Black

Hello friends! Today I am going to share a diverse variety of cards and samples.  First up are samples made with new dies and stamps from Deadbeat Designs, a Texas company (as if you couldn’t guess)!!  Mark, the owner, has just started making dies and he’s done a great job.  FYI: he promised me his next release will include a sugar skull for Dia de los Muertos!!!

His Texas Trio die set includes 3 sizes of Texas shapes (see banner); then he has another slightly larger die (Texas shape lg) and the Texas Flag which is the largest of all.  The Texas Word die is outstanding and would complement any of the Texas dies.

Texas-diesTexas Banner – New dies: Texas Trio (top 3 Texas shapes); Texas Flag (bottom); Texas (word).   Texas Cards – Dies: Texas Flag, Texas shape large and Texas Word; stamps: Wood, Eyes of Texas script, Distressed Home, Bandana background and western swirl

That’s all for today.  There’s lots in the store including clever stamps and dies for Father’s Day.  I am canceling the birthday card class for this weekend, but if you want to take a class Saturday (5/24) just give me a call by Friday morning and we will put one together.

The Pop up Dies have been really popular and will be back in stock this Thursday.  Call (915-833-9500) or email me (hellopolly@aol.com) to pre-order yours.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend.  I just bought a smoker and I plan on smoking a chicken and who knows what else!  Chloe loves smoked chicken and turkey so both of us will be very happy!

Poppystamps Masaa Leaf Frame die Samples

I thought I would post these samples today because everyone in the store who’s seen them has loved them (thank you!!!).  The new Poppystamps “Massa Leaf Frame” die makes a quick and easy card.  It cuts all the leaves and the frame so all you have to do is figure out what to put in the opening.  You can see I chose butterflies!  Look at the green background – I used the same die to emboss the background -- Fun!  And on the card with the blue butterfly I embossed the white mat with the new Memory Box “Mini Dots” stencil and added a vellum layer to the butterfly.  Adding little touches like these really “amp” up your cards to the next level!  FYI:  the pink card is 4” x 8”; the red card is 4½” x 6¼”; the other 2 cards are 4¼” x 5½”.

Today my samples cover a variety of themes, from get weNautical2ll to congrats to sewing, and a number of different manufacturers including a name that may be new to you: “Xcut.”  Xcut dies are manufactured by a British company and while they make a large number of dies, the ones that caught my attention were the build-a-scene dies sets which you can see here in a fun animated video.  These sets have from 8 to 16 dies and retail for $25.99!

The other Xcut die sets I like are the Haberdashery set (20) dies and the Kitchen set (26 dies) – again for $25.99!

What’s Coming!

I have ordered some new dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs that are fun, fun, fun!!! Karen Burniston, formerly a designer with Sixxiz, has designed a new line of interactive dies.  One die cuts a pop-up platform inside the card that can be decorated; another cuts a heart, butterfly or label that pivots from the outside to the inside; and a third die cuts an oval, circle or label that pivots and folds together like an accordion card.  Her newest die is my favorite – it’s a house pivot die.  See below for classes I have scheduled with these new dies and click on the links below to see videos showing these products.
