Hi friends and Happy New Year! I am sorry it’s taken me a while to post a blog but with year-end paperwork including taxes (ugh!!); computer issues; and ordering the newest products from the recent CHA (Craft and Hobby Association) winter show I have been really busy. In today’s blog I will tell you about our first class of the year; show you some exciting Valentine’s Day card samples; and give you information about some of the newest products released at CHA winter.
But first I’d like to share some thoughts with you. Recently I had several customers come to the store for the first time. There’s nothing more satisfying to me than introducing stamping and papercrafting to a new customer – they’re so eager to learn and excited to be able to express themselves through this art form. At the same time, it’s also rewarding to share ideas with existing customers who are also excited to learn a different technique or see how to use a new die or stamp. Personal interaction is what this craft is all about – sharing, teaching, laughing and loving our hobby.
Contrast this experience with walking into a big box store like I did yesterday. I went to buy a computer part and when I finally found someone to help me (which took at least 5 minutes of searching), the clerk barely knew more than I did. We had to walk around the entire store to find the part, and my questions about installation were answered with a blank stare. I spent a good amount of money on parts I hoped would work!
I know some may feel it is self-serving for me to ask you to shop at my store and it is. However, it is in your best interest, too. When you want to know which ink to use to emboss, how to work with a certain product, or how to blend Copic markers, think about asking a big box store. I think you might get the same blank stare I got at the computer store. I hope you will help me keep “our” store alive another year. I thank the new customers and the old … one is silver and the other gold!
Our huge sale is still going on and will be until everything is either sold or given away to some desering people. Hundreds of stamps and stamp sets are priced at $1 and $2; dies marked down 30% to 50%; and lots more inks; embellishments and papers at bargain basement prices.
