Christmas Cards Class on Saturday, Nov 2

Hello everyone.  With less than 2 months until Christmas it’s time to start thinking about holiday cards.  Join me this Saturday, Nov 2 for a Christmas Cards Class at 10am and 2 pm using fabulous new dies and stamps from Taylored Expressions, Memory Box and Poppystamps.  Please call Polly at 915-833-9500 by Friday morning at 11am to register. The Christmas Card class will repeat on Wednesday, Nov 6 at 1pm.  Here are the samples we will make in class:

Bubble-ClarissaYou must see this card in person because the camera cannot capture the bright red mirrorcard that shines through these two ornaments.  I used new Poppystamps dies "Bubble Ornament" and "Clarissa" outline and solid ornaments with the new Poppystamps die "Merry Dots."  The silver hangers are cut from silver mirrorcard.

Merry-Xmas   Taylored Expressions has an exciting new die that is uber versatile for any kind of card.  It's called the "Color Block" background and it not only cuts out the frame (seen here in red) and the individual blocks of paper, but it also comes with a plain and scalloped rectangle or circle that fit inside each of the framed sections (see card sample below).  For this card I cut the frame from red cardstock and 5 different decorative papers for a festive color blocked card.  The focal images are from the TE die and stamp set called "Very Merry."  The "Merry Christmas" is an Elizabeth Craft die.

Chirstmas-Graphic-Greetings  This fun card is super easy!  I used Taylored Expressions  "Graphic Greetings Christmas" stamped on a tag cut with TE's Tag Stacklets then layered on a larger  tag cut with the same set.  Santa is a stamp from TE's "Christmas Doodles" and he is die cut with a Spellbinders oval nestie.  Topping off the tags is a bow made with TE's new "Mix and Match Bows" die -- which is totally the bomb -- really you will use it a lot!  The set cuts bows in 2 sizes and 2 different "tails" for the bows.  I also cut holly leaves from felt using TE's Very Merry die set.

Our class on Sat, Nov 9 at 10am and 2pm will be Fall Cards (this class will be repeated on Wed, Nov 13 at 1pm).  Here are some samples from this class:

Viva-Tree-SequinsI love white cards but they don't photographic well so bear with me.  For this sample I die cut the new Poppystamps Viva Tree" from orange and embellished it with copper sequins.  A little twine and a sentiment from Stampendous complete the card.

Wheat-1

Here's a real beauty!  I love the new Impression Obsession "Wheat" die. In this sample it is die cut from gold cardstock twice and the top layer is distressed with Memento Peanut Brittle ink.  The 3 wheat stalks are left, center and right so they fit together beautifully.  I mounted the stalks over a framed opening die cut with Spellbinders Labels 10 from Memory Box paper.

I am working on one more sample for this class.

Other Samples

Let me share with a few other samples that I made with some of the other new items in stock.

Faded-Dots-Thahk-YouAgain a white card that doesn't show up as well as it should -- sorry!  I used the new Poppystamps Fading Dots Border and colored the openings with Copic markers.  I added the sentiment with Savvy Stamps "Flag Thank You" stamp.  You could also color the paper behind the openings first or use colored cardstock behind the openings.

Brittaney-IO-OrnamentWe made this card in the "What's Up with Washi Tape" class last Saturday.  Using two new Memory Box washi tape stamps (dots and stripes), stamp Post-it Label roll tape in a variety of red, pinks and oranges and make your own washi tape.  Layer the washi tape on white cardstock then die cut it with the Poppystamps "Brittany" ornament die and the Impression Obsession "Vintage Ornament" die.  The ornament top and "string" are part of the IO Vintage Ornament die set and are cut from gold mirrorcard.  Mount these on red cardstock embossed with the Cuttlebug "Holly Ribbons" embossing folder and add a sentiment cut with the Elizabeth Crafts die "Merry Christmas."

Holiday-Village Holiday-Village-Snowfall

For both these cards I used the new Memory Box die and matching stamp "Holiday Village" with sentiment stamps from Poppystamps.  On the blue card I die cut the background with the Memory Box die "SIlent Snowfall" and backed it with white glitter cardstock.  Simple, sweet and easy!

Chalkboard-stamped Scallop-inserts-too

Taylored Expressions die “Color Block” and stamp sets “Big Bold Christmas” and “Christmas Doodles.”  Love the chalkboard technique!  Did you notice how you can add the year to your Christmas (or other occasion) cards?  The set include the "20" stamp along with "13, 14 and 15" stamps -- clever!

Gothic-window-nativityI stamped the nativity stamp from TE's "Winter View" stamp set in Versamark and embossed it in white on kraft cardstock.  The brown window and gold inserts were die cut with TE's “Gothic Window” die and mounted on a tag cut with TE's Tag Stacklets.  The bottom of the tag is covered with decorative paper from Kaisercraft with a little lace ribbon (Maya Road) added.  The tag is mounted on decorative paper (Karen Foster) and a gold card.  The sentiment is also from the Winter View stamp set and is embossed in gold.

Fall Wreaths

Autumn-MosaicI needed a card to welcome a new neighbor and was excited to use the new Autumn Wreath die from My Favorite Things.  First I die cut the base wreath from a medium orange cardstock.  Then using the 3 separate leaves that come with the wreath, I cut leaves from green, darker orange and yellow ochre.  I thought the wreath needed a little texture so I die cut leaves from burlap.  It cut easily using the metal shim plate from Memory Box (back in stock!).  I assembled the wreath with foam tape; mounted it on off-white cardstock that I distressed and edged with Tea Dye Distress ink then stamped with one of my favorite stamps from Impression Obsession.  The wreath was mounted on fall papers including corrugated cardboard for texture.  Completing the wreath is a bow made with the new “Mix and Bows” die from Taylored Expressions.

Front-DoorI made a second wreath card that uses the same elements, but is mounted on real wood paper that is cut to look like a front door copied from Jody Morrow, MFT Design Team member and customer of The Stamp Act!  I added the neighbor’s house numbers and another bow from the new TE die.

Linda-JonesLinda Jones of Tampa, Florida made this one for me.  I love the bright color and the texture of the lacey ribbon accent.  Thanks Linda!

My friend Sheila is talented in many crafts including beading so she made me some very spooky spiders to decorate for Halloween!  I hope my customers don't scream when they see them -- they are eerily realistic!!!  Come and see them for yourself!!! Thanks Sheila!

Classes at The Stamp Act

Hi Friends!  Today I want to post some classes for the coming weeks.  I don't have all the samples done yet, but will post them soon.  I am having computer problems and my fix-it guru, the wonderful (and handsome!) Rafael, is always so busy that it takes a while to get things fixed.  Meantime I will limp along.

The class this Saturday, October 5 at 10am and 2 pm, we will use several new "word" dies from Die-Versions.  These die are so cool and so versatile!  They cut the top of the word but not the bottom so the word stays attached to your cardstock/decorative paper.  Here are some samples:

Calendar-HBFor this card I die cut the "Happy" twice, once on each edge of a rectangle of cardstock, to make a corner.  The calendar is created with the My Favorite Things Calendar Basics clear stamp set.  The "Birthday" die is Elizabeth Crafts; the arrow die is My Favorite Things; and the heart balloon is Impression Obsession.

Miss-You-LorelaiFor this card I cut the "Miss You" from teal cardstock and layered it with white and polka dotted cardstock.  Then I cut the Lorelai Leaf from Poppystamps from white cardstock and backed it with teal distressed dots cardstock.  Peach twine and a few teal pearls finish off the card.

Hello-Garden-CrittersSaying hello to a friend is quick and easy with these dies.  I die cut the "Hello" die from blue cardstock then added a cute "Garden Critter" from Penny Black's clear set of the same name.  This was layered onto pink cardstock and added to the card.  The sentiment is also from Penny Black ("Friendship") and in order to split the sentiment into 2 parts I cut the clear stamp in half!  You can always put it back together!

Let me share with you some other samples:

Hello-Friend Pastel-Happy-Birthday

On the "Hello" card, the stamped "friend" sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  The stripes are washi tape from My Mind's Eye.  For the "Happy, Happy, etc" card, the "Birthday" die is Elizabeth Crafts.

Santa-Christmas   Miss-You

The "Happy Christmas" card shows the same corner technqiuje as the birthday card above.  The "Christmas" die is Elizabeth Crafts and the Santa sleigh and reindeer is Impression Obsession.  I used Doodlebug Candy Cane washi tape on the bottom of the calendar.  For the "Miss You" sample I used Basic Grey 6" x 6" paper pad "PB&J" and a large sequin from Lawn Fawn.

And here's the best news!  Attend the class and you will receive one of these dies for FREE!  Call me at 915-833-9500 or send me an email (hellopolly@aol.com) by Friday at 10am to register!

Please come in and shop soon!
