New Card Samples to Tempt You!

Here are 2 cute cards I made with a new Taylored Expressions stamp set.

Graduation-1 Graduation-2

Penny Black’s new “April Showers” clear stamp set is filled with darling images of umbereallas, rain, clouds and galoshes.  Here are 3 samples I made with this set. (Inspiration for this card from Penny Black blog and Flikr group).

Madera-Corner-JaneMy good customer and friend Jane Smith recently brought this magnificent card to me.  She die cut the
Memory Box Madera Corner 4 times and mounted them in a square.  The border is a Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page border set and flowers in the corners are punches also.  This picture does not do the beauty of this monochromatic card justice.  Thanks Jane
for sharing!

MB-WIndowIn all the excitement of the new Taylored Expressions (TE) windows, don’t forget the original windows came from Memory Box (MB).  Here I have used the small window and added the awning from Savvy Stamps and the shutters from the Window Accessories Kit from TE.  The greenery in the MB “Flower Box” is created with a Martha Stewart branch punch and the flowers are from the MB “Flower Mound” die.  The curtains were crimped with a Fiskars crimper.  The sentiment is from MB also. (Inspiration for this card from Kittiekraft).

Luminous-PoppiesI plan to have a class featuring techniques with Poppy
stamps and Dies.  Here’s my first sample which was created with MB Luminous Poppies.  All supplies from MB and inspiration for this card from their blog).

Using new dies from MB including the "happy, birthday, petite cakes and petite cake stands" I created this set of cards.  The lavender card uses the positive "happy" cut
from white paper and carefully glued to the card front.  The pool card uses the negative of the "happy" cut from the pool paper and mounted on the white card.  I like both looks but the negative card is a whole lot easier to put
together.  Inside the lavender card is the "birthday” die cut from lavender paper. Inside the pool card is the same treatment – "birthday" cut from pool paper and mounted on white.  For the pool card you must keep up with the little pieces the die cuts and glue them back into the happy and birthday.  Again, you have to see it in person to really see the difference.

New from Taylored Expressions are a Birch Tree Background die, a Birth Tree Border die and a Birch Tree Accessories die kit that includes a deer, bird, sign post and owl.  Here are 3 samples I made with inspiration from their blog.

classes!  I hope to see you soon!

New Classes and Memorial Day Celebration

Hello Friends.  This Saturday’s class, “Window Scenes,” uses the 2 new Taylored Expressions windows and coordinating cling-mounted stamp sets.  The Arched Window has a handsome arched top while the Picture Window has a rounded top with lights.  The two stamp sets let you choose from 6 scenes either looking inside or outside the window.  Plus each stamp set comes with 6 appropriate sentiments.  Here are the dies and stamps:

I know I already shared some of my samples with you but I thought I would publish those again and add the scenes looking inside the window.  Also, notice on the “looking inside samples” I used the new window accessories die set which includes the curtain, window box and shutter.  There is also a flower and greenery die set to use to fill the window box.  Here are the samples:

Tea-Party Tulips

For the class Saturday, we will make three cards, 2 from those above and one card using the Memory Box small window.  Many of you have asked me whether the stamps )above) will fir the Memory Box window and the answer is yes, but …. Because the scene stamps have a border all around the stamp and because the MB window has a little larger opening (versus the TE windows), that border will show. Now if you use the TE curtains you may be able to hide the border. I have not tried it but will let you know when I do.

Saturday, May 18 our class will focus on sunshine!  Memory Box has two new dies called Circle Burst large and small and they are perfect for making cards reminiscent of suns and sunshine.  We will use glitter and sentiments stamps, other dies and colorful papers to further enhance these cards.  Samples later this week!

Saturday, June 1 our class will be all about roses!  We will use Penny Black’s new stamp “A Bed of Roses” to make three different cards.  Techniques will include coloring and blending with Copic Markers; fun mounting ideas; and other coloring media.

Call me (915-833-9500) to sign up for a class.  We would love to see you!

What’s New at The Stamp Act

Lots and lots!

New stamps from Penny Black including beautiful flowers; a whimsical spring set with umbrellas and galoshes; and a really cool set called Embellishments.

New dies and stamps from Savvy Stamps – wait until you see the beautiful poppy (flower head) die.  Other cool dies include a typewriter, a bike with banner, and birdhouse.

We got dozens and dozens of new Memory Box dies last week and I just placed a second huge order!

The new Hero Arts “dots” embellishments have been wildly popular and more are on the way!

Memorial Day Celebration

How to Align Dies with Matching Stamps

Many of you have asked about how to align matching dies and stamps from Memory Box and Impression Obsession (IO) for instance.  If the die has registration circles built into the die (like Memory Box) you can watch this video to see how to align the die with the stamped image.  In the video Patter stamps the image on acetate then die cuts it to make a template.I prefer to just die cut a scrap of cardstock (no stamping) for the template then follow the rest of her instructions for using the registration holes.

Some dies from IO don’t have the registration marks so watch this video to see how to align those.  It’s really easy and you will be able to get perfectly cut out images using these instructions.  Any other questions please come in and I will be happy to give you personal instruction.  Thanks!

Hope to see you soon.  My knees are improving every day and I am walking my mile in 27 minutes now!  Yeah!
