April 2013

Birthday Cards and Lots more samples!

Hi stamping friends!  OMG!  You must come in the store because we have a ton of new Memory Box dies and many of their new cling-mounted stamps plus new stamps and dies from Taylored Expressions.  I don’t have any samples made with the new MB products because I have been so busy preparing for classes.  We have been having such fun in our classes – everyone from beginner to advanced is welcome and I guarantee you will learn something new in every class.  Our classes always teach techniques and the cards include stamps, dies and paper.  Plus our small class space is an advantage in that each student gets personal attention.  I hope you will plan to join us for a class soon.

Classes …. Classes … Classes

TE-Birthday-CakeThis Saturday, May 4 at 10am and 2pm, we will be making Birthday cards using new stamps, dies and papers.  The card on the left is so fun – I used the Taylored Expressions (TE) “Bake me a Cake” and Graphic Greetings Birthday stamp.  And the card we make in class will have one more fun feature:  we will mount the cake on a wobble spring for loads of fun movement!

Easel-card-frontOur next card is an easel card made from 2 sheets of decorative paper, the TE library pocket die and two Tim Holtz embellishments:  Word Bands and Tissue Tape.  What’s really cool about this card is that you can totally personalize it for the recipient by marking the month, date and day of the week of the birthday.  But that’s just the beginning of the fun.  The pocket on the inside of the card will hold your greetings plus a gift card.  And this card is perfect for Father’s Day, Graduation or any special day! Here are two more views:

IO-Cake-DieBecause the two cards above are quite involved, we won’t make the card on the left.  To make this card I used: calendar stamp (background) from My Favorite Things; cake and candle die from IO Stamps; balloons die from CC Designs; tiny rolled rose from My Favorite Things; Mini tag and mini sentiment from Taylored Expressions; and wood veneer heart from Studio Calico.  The oval window was cut with a Spellbinders Petite Oval.  Again I personalized the card to my friend’s birthday day and month.  Won’t she be impressed?  The calendar set comes with the calendar form and all the months plus a few other words.

Great New Merchandise and Creative Classes

Thanks for stopping by the Stamp Action blog today.  A quick update on my health:  I am working everyday (except Sunday and Monday) from 10:30am to 5:30 or 6pm.  I am going to physical therapy 3 times a week and exercising at home the other days.  I can walk a mile in 36 minutes and pedal the recumbent bicycle for 15 minutes.  I still have some discomfort and pain, but my knees seem to improve a little every day.

Spring is here and it suits so many of the new stamps and dies we are getting in!  Memory Box has a whole new release and I’ve ordered new vines and flowers, garden pots and swimming fish, tiny houses and tiny cars plus dancing butterflies, a gorgeous rose and lady bugs!  What’s really new is that Memory Box will now be making their stamps in cling as well as wood!  Cling stamps offer the great stampability of rubber with the convenience of easy storage.  In the new release there are two die/stamp matches: a vintage clock and a butterfly … just stamp the image then die cut it.  Here’s an example of what you can do with a matched set (this butterfly is discontinued). Click here to go to the Memory Box website and see the new dies and stamps!

Tree-SwingWhat else is new?  Another of our favorite companies, Taylored Expressions has lots of new stamps and dies.  First they released the “Arched Window die” with the stamp set “From My Window” full of scenes looking out the window.  Next they released the “Picture Window die” with the stamp set “A Glimpse Inside” with scenes looking in the window.

I will be teaching a class with these stamps and dies on Sat, May 11.  Here are some samples using the “From my Window” stamp set and the “Arched Window die.”

   Lighthouse Night-Scene

By the way, I know many of you already own the Memory Box window.  These stamps will fit behind the MB small window.  The stamped images will be a little smaller but they will look fine.  I will make a sample to show you soon.  AND FYI:  Taylored Expressions has a "Window Accessories Die set" that will work with both windows.  The set includes a shutter, a curtain and a window box.  There's a cute little flower and foliage set too.  Come in and check them out!

GraphicGreetingsGraduateALCWith graduation just around the corner, you’ll love the new TE graduation-themed stamps and dies.  Stamp the Graphic Greetings Graduation stamp and slip inside the cute “Library Pocket die.”   Or put the Graduation stamp on the front of the card and the library pocket inside with a gift card.  And don’t forget to embellish the card with the new GradCapGraduation Cap die cut out of school colors!  For an even more special card, check out this graduation stamp set called “A Lifetime of Happiness.”  Isn’t it the cutest!  Very contemporary and trendy!

RoseWreathPkgFor Mother’s Day, you will love the new TE “Rose Wreath” stamp with coordinating “Wreath die.”  If you bought the Halloween, Fall, Christmas or Winter wreaths, the same die works for the Rose Wreath.  And you can embellish the card with a tiny tag using the “Many Minis – Holidays” stamp set and the “Designer Mini Tags” die set.

Besides Memory Box and TE, new stamps and dies are coming soon from Hero Arts, Penny Black, My Favorite Things and Savvy Stamps.  You gotta come in and check out all the new “goodies!”

Classes … Classes … Classes … Classes

Last week we had a great class using the new “Big Postcard” stamp from Hero Arts.  I want to share with the samples.  I love this stamp because it is so versatile!  You can use it as a background or just about any occasion.  Combine it with other stamp and/or dies and you’ve got a very creative and handsome card.

Chloe and I look forward to seeing you.

The Stamp Act is Now Open for Business!

Hello Friends and happy warmer weather!  I am really enjoying the sunny skies and cool breezes especially when Chloe and I go on our walks.  So far we are up to walking 1 mile!  When I told my surgeon that during my last appointment, he said of all his patients who have had similar surgery, I was really “kicking butt!”  Then he gave me a big hug!  Of course there are still many days when my knees (especially the right knee) gives me grief so I know the road to full recovery is still a long way away – sigh!

Well enough about me, the really big news is that The Stamp Act is back open!!!  We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30am to 5pm.   And classes start this Saturday.  Don’t even ask when the website will be up – for now we will have to communicate through the blog.  I am going to publish all the classes in this post along with a few sample photos.  For now, I am going to teach the same class at 10am and 2pm on Saturday.  Please call me (915-833-9500) if you need more information or if you have a group of at least 3 that would like to come during the week for a class.  Everyone from beginners to advanced is welcome!
