Penny Black Stamps and Father's Day Samples

Family-TiesThanks for stopping by today.  The reason it’s been a while since I blogged is that my computer crashed and I had to upgrade to a new one.  That meant my web editing and photo editing software (very old versions!) wouldn’t work with the fast new computer so I had to order new versions, etc. etc.  You get the picture!  Then the blog software acted up and it was one headache after another.  UGH!!  My website is still not updated so bear with me for a little while longer while I try to get that problem resolved.

I created the card above using the "Family Ties" die and papers from Memory Box.  It has a "Mad Man" look about it don't you think?  It's perfect for lots of occassions including Father's Day which is quickly approaching.  The sentiment is from the Hero Arts set called "Year Round Sentiments."

Bear-of-all-tradesSpeaking of Father's Day, I have many samples for Dad to share with you today and they are all made with one clear stamp set from Penny Black named "A Bear of all Trades." This set is packed with great stamps that will work not just for Dad's day but for birthday and many other occassions.

PB-Bear-SleepingThis is my favorite!  The cute little bear sleeping in an oversize easy chair reminds me of my Dad.  For this card I used Spellbinders Grand Circles (smallest) and Classic Circles lg (largest).  The lattice background is from another new Penny Black set called "Puzzle Parts" which features 3 borders/backgrounds that match Spellbinders Classic Edges 1.

Puzzle-PartsLet me show you another sample using this set:

In the red card you see the lattice background stamped on the bottom of the card (BTW: it's easy to line up) and the postage border stamped on deep blue and cut out with the Classic Edges Postage border die.  Easy breezy and a great look.  The floral piece is yet another Penny Black stamp called "Floral Threads."

Back to Father's Day ... PB-Bear-Fix-ithere's a card featuring a the "tool bear" with the new Penny Black "Brick" background.  I have used this stamp so much since it arrived.  So cute!  And using the same tool bear, I made this card:

PB-Bear-Wood-DadI stamped brown cardstock with the wood background stamp from Judikins then cut  "planks" to spell out the word "DAD."  The little tools and the sentiment are in the bear set.

There's more!  PB-Bear-BeerLove this card!  I stamped the lattice background for the floor covering, the brick background for the "bar" and the Hero Arts Zig Zag stamp for wall covering.  Lots of pattern but it works.  The little beer stein and the sentiments are in the bear set.  Notice the bear's sweter?  I made it by paper piecing blue cardstock stamped with the zig zag border from "Puzzle Parts."  This is a great example of maximizing the usefulness of your stamps!

PB-Bear-FishingThe "bear" set can be used for other occassions too.  Here the cute little bear is fishing on a bright and sunny summer day.  The paper (love the wide stripes!) is from a new line called Hello Summer from Echo Park; the clouds are cut with a Memory Box die; and the sentiment is from Deadbeat Designs.

More examples of all occassion cards:

PB-Bear-GolferThe golfer bear is all ready for a day on the links.  His sweater was created like the blue one detailed above; the grass is die cut with the grass die from The Cat's Pajamas; and the paper including the cute bingo card is from the Summer Fresh collection by Simple Stories. I also used Spellbinders Labels 2 and Classic Edges 1.

One more!  PB-Bear-ComputerI love having a computer "bear" -- we all know men whose life is the computer and this would make a great card for them.  The denim pattern paper is from the Summer Fresh collection and the graph pattern is the reverse.  The sentiment was created using another great set from penny Black called "Words Express."  This set is fabulous -- just look at the words you can put together to really personalize your cards.

Words-ExpressThe card below is another example of personalization:

To create this colorful card I stamped the new Penny Black stamp called "All Over Pattern" in Versamark embossing ink then embossed it in white on the same wide stripe paper shown above.  That meant no coloring!  How could I afford to use so mnay pearls?  Easy!  I used the Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White to "make" all my own pearls.  Here's another example using this background stamp:

All-Over-Pattern-2For this card I stamped the "All Over Pattern" in Versafine black then embossed it in clear.  I colored it with Copic Markers then cut it out and cut it apart and added the sentiment (from Penny Black's Wishes).

Since this blog is all about new Penny Black stamps, let me share one more very fun and very versatile set.

Word-to-the-wiseThis set called Word to the Wise is perfect for graduation:Word-to-wise-grad-1

In the card above, you see I used the Hero Arts Zig Zag background with the focal image.  For the card on the left, I used the Cover-a-Card Circle Fusion background from Impression Obsession. Isn't that brick background versatile?  I am using it everywhere!

Cow Graduate

Graduation-Moo-lahFor this very popular card from last year I used a Penny Black cow stamp and computer- generated sentiment on top of an embossed (Cuttlebug Divine Swirls) background.  You can color the graduation robe to match the school colors of your choice.

I have been trying to find cute stamps that work for birthdays, graduation and other occassions for children.  Penny Black's Three Clowns is perfect.  Look at these colorful samples:

On the left, 2 of the clowns are stacked on top of each other holding words from the Penny Black Sweet Wishes set. The bright orange card (Memory Box papers) features the third clown with a sentiment and balloon from the Sweet Wishes set.

I hope I haven't overwhelmed you with ideas for these new Penny Black stamps.  Just one more sample using the Floral Thread stamp. PB-Floral-Thread-Lattice-Ra

I inked it in Versamark and embossed it in white on brown cardstock.  I cut it to fit the side of the largest of Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles.  To complete the focal image I created 2 felt roses using My Favorite Things rolled mini roses and a sentiment using Wishes stamped on a label cut from a Memory Box die.  I adhered a folded card behind the focal image.

Besides Penny Black, we have so many new stamps, dies and papers in the store that if you’ve not been in lately you are truly missing out.
