Sympathy Cards

Rarely are we prepared for sad occasions and many times we don’t have time to stop and make a sympathy or comforting card for a friend.  Our morning class this Saturday (March 19 at 10am) will prepare you and give you ideas for making sympathy cards.  We will use a variety of stamps including a new set from Hero Arts.  Here are other class samples.

I hope you can join us for this class.  Call me at 915-833-9500 to register.  Thanks!

The Artist in You

Today World This coming Saturday brings 2 fun classes for you.  Our morning class (Sat, March 19 at 10am) is all about expressing your artistry and creativity using colorful inks, one set of stamps (Unity Stamp Co.) and a few other supplies.  Do you know how to use your craft sheet as a palette to create beautiful unique backgrounds?  If not, come to our class entitled the “Artist in You.”  I will show you how to make backgrounds that are a perfect foil for the graphic black images and sentiments.  Here are some more samples, but remember every background is unique so yours will look all their own!   For details about the class go to http://stampactelpaso.com/classes/March2011.html.

Books and Bookmarks

Dog-Bookmark Labels-7-Book-Card Saturday afternoon at 2pm it’s all about Books and Bookmarks as we put some new stamps from Impression Obsession to good use!  I just love these stamps – the bookmark with the quote from Groucho Marx is hilarious.  I embellished the stamped bookmark with die cuts: an old Spellbinder dog die and a book die from Quickutz.  The three other cards we will make in the class use sentiments that are all in one clear stamp set along with many other book-related quotes.  To make the book card I used Spellbinders Labels 7.  This class is already popular so if you are interested please sign up soon by calling 915-833-9500 or emailing me at hellopolly@aol.com.  For full details of the class, please go to http://stampactelpaso.com/classes/March2011.html.  Here are two more samples from the class.

For this card I created a pocket card and slipped the   bookmark inside.  The card is embellished with a flower created with Spellbinders Blossom 1 die.  For the center I used one of the Spellbinders Flower Miniabilities dies.  The leaves are from the Spellbinders Sunflower 1 set.  Please plan to join us Saturday afternoon to make your own set of these pretty cards.

Signs of Spring

Mem-Box-Birds Warmer weather, the time change and budding trees tells us that spring is about to arrive.  I guess I have a touch of spring fever because I made a couple of cards last week that look very spring like.  The first card uses two new stamps from Memory Box: Leaf Canopy and Crafty Birds, and some inspirations from Laura Fulcher.  The Leaf canopy is stamped twice on a green folded card in  It is also stamped twice on the white panel (2⅞” x 4¾”) in Memento Pear Tart with Bamboo Leaves on the edges of the inked stamp.  The Crafty Birds are inked in Versafine Sepia and stamped on the white panel over the leaves then stamped again in Memento Summer Sky on white cardstock.  Cut out the blue birds and adhere them over the brown birds.  The sentiment is also from Memory Box.

Butterfly-Field For my second card I used stamps from Hero Arts.  The focal image is “Butterfly Field” and I inked it in Memento inks Pear Tart and Summer Sky with just a touch of the darker Bahama Blue and Bamboo Leaves around the edges.  I then spritzed with just a tiny bit of water using a (Ranger) mini mister and printed it on white cardstock.  Next I cut out the image and mounted it with foam tape on a light green folded card that I stamped with a similar image from the Hero set “Earth Flowers.”  This card has a very watercolor look to it.

Thanks from stopping by my blog.  Please stop in the store soon!

New Classes in March

Apple-Tree-Bloom Hello stamping friends.  Despite the lingering morning chill, spring is just around the corner.  This morning I wandered around the far corner of my house where my hidden apple tree grows and was surprised and thrilled to see it covered in beautiful bright pink blooms.  I hope that is a harbinger of a good crop of apples.  I am watching my pear tree for signs of bloom and hoping it too made it through our very deep freeze.

Speaking of spring, we have lots of new stamps featuring bunnies and blooms, rabbits and chicks, and daffodils and roses for spring -- you will find a great selection of new stamps at The Stamp Act.
