My Funny and Vintage Valentine, Part 1

I can't believe it's almost time for Valentine's Day!  I decided to go two directions for Valentines -- Funny and Vintage!  Let's start with funny ....

LionIsn't this the cutest?  Both the lion and the sentiment are from Rubber Soul stamps.  I stamped the lion is Wild Honey Distress ink, colored it with Copics, and stitched the mane with floss.  I die cut it with Classic Squares (lg and sm #4) and mounted it on Lacey Squares -- all from Spellbinders.  The sentiment was stamped in Versamark and embosse din white.  As I created this card, I was remembering one that my friend Harriet Head made years ago.  Thanks for the inspiration Harriett!

My Vintage Valentines will be taught in a class on Saturday, February 5 from 2 to 4pm.  For these card I used the new "Vintage Valentines" set from Our Craft Lounge.  The card on the left shows the darling little girl and boy stamps surrounded by the flower wreath.  The background was stamped with a new Hero Arts cling background stamp (Fabric) using Memento hubarb Stalk ink.  Ribbon (dyed to match using a Copic marker), a flower (Prima) and a ticket (Tim Holtz) complete the card.

Love For the next vintage card I used some Making Memories paper (appropriately their Vintage Valentine collection) and the same girl and boy stamp.  The sentiment "Love" is also from the same set.

Keep watching for more vintage and funny Valentines cards later this week.

My next funny Valentine features another stamp from Rubber Soul and a honeycomb background stamp from Judikins that my friend Betty asked me to find for her.  I stamped the honeycomb in Memento Rosebud ink, cut it to 4" square and punched the corners with a Fiskars 3-in-1 heart corner punch.  I used the same punch to make the tiny hearts for the focal image.  The plain and scallopped hearts are from Spellbinders.

Let's Chat -- 4 cards with New Hero Arts Clear Set

Old-Fashioned-HelloHero Arts has some very creative and very vintage images in their new catalogue including the new clear set "Just Saying Hi."  I taught a class Saturday with this set,  combining it with paper from the Graphic 45 "Communique Collection."  The card on the left features one of the telephone stamps in the set stamped in Versamark and embossed in clear.  The background is the Hero Arts "Friends" cling background stamp die cut with Labels 14 from Spellbinders.  The sentiment is also in the stamp set.  I added a little Vintage Photo distress ink, May Arts ribbon and nailheads from American Tag.  The background for the focal image is the Graphic 45 paper.

For the next card (on the right) I used another telephone and sentiment from the set, stamping both on G45 paper.  This time I used a page from the phone book as a background and tied on some red twine (Martha Stewart) and a mini clothespin (Hero Arts).

For the card on the left, I used images cut from one of the G45 papers and a sentiment from the stamp set.  I love this card and because the G45 paper has dozens of different images, you can make endless variations on one design.  The card below is another variation featuring another clever sentiment in the set.

My final card features a different paper in the G45 Collection, an ink bottle from Judikins Rubber Stamps, another sentiment and some black tiny type stickers from Cosmo Cricket.  One set with endless possibilities!

Half the Store in Closing -- 50% off sale in Progress!

Hello stamping friends.  If you haven’t been to the store for the bargains you are missing the biggest sale in stamping history!  Well, perhaps that is overstating it a little, however, saving 50% on practically everything including stamps, papers, embellishments etc. etc. and 30% on Spellbinders’ hottest dies is worth a trip!  We are open every day except Monday so come in soon.

What will Happen to The Stamp Act?

Many of you are wondering what will happen to the store.  I can’t answer that question definitively right now because I need to see how much of the store I can squeeze into our original space.  Essentially I am cutting my square footage in half!  I want to remain open until all merchandise is sold and right now that will include February so the sale will continue another month and a half at least.  After that we will see how things look.  If you value having a local stamp store then please let me hear your thoughts.  I also wan to continue to offer classes, however that depend son attendance in the next few months.  Everyone asks about classes but few attend.  If you value classes and learning more about stamping, please vote with your feet or seat!!!  Thanks for all your kind comments and please do come in and see all the bargains!

Sat, January 22 -- Communiqué Card Holder and Cards Classes

CL502 This Saturday I will be teaching a fun set of classes using a new stamp set from Hero Arts called “Just Saying Hi.”  I will also use papers from Graphic 45’s Communiqué collection.  In the morning class, we will make a card holder and a bonus card.  In the afternoon we will create 4 cards.  I hope you will join us to make your own all-occasion card set.  Here's a look at tthe other cards we will make.

Sat, January 29 – Texas Star Book

Finished-Texas-Flag This is the coolest book and you will love making it.  There’s a little cutting out (OK there’s a lot!) and a lot of coloring, but the results are fabulous and you will enjoy a day of leisurely stamping and creating with fun friends.  There are 6 pages and if you prefer not to assemble them as a book, you can leave them separate as 6 cards.  Either way they are fun and fabulous – and remember, Texas Independence Day is March 2!  Let’s make the class interesting – I will have a Texas History Trivia contest and whoever answers the most questions correctly will receive a grab bag of stamping goodies worth $50!  Register today by calling 833-9500 or email Polly at hellopolly@aol.com.  Here are the other pages:

Store Closing ... Transforming

I announced the huge store wide clearance sale a few days ago, but at that time I really hadn't worked through all my thoughts and feelings and couldn't say the word "closing."  Well I have had a week to work through my emotions and can now say that the store as we know it now is closing.  So get in here and get some bargains before January 31.  If the store is open beyond that date it will be a much more streamlined store.  We have tons of stuff that you want and can now have at a fraction of the retail cost.  So come in and shop, shop, shop and save, save, save!  Remember, 99% of the store is discounted 50% ... all dies are discounted 30% and new merchandise and a very few other items are not on sale.

Cover Meanwhile, classes continue.  One of the most requested class is the star book and I will be offering a Texas Star Book class on Janaury 29 from 10am to 4pm.  I will show you photos of the 5 pages early next week -- I am waiting on a few more stamps to be delivered.  You will have the option of putting the 6 pages together in the star book or you can leave them separate and have 6 individual cards.  Either way, your Texas pride will get a big boost when you make this book!

New Merchandise in the Store

New stamps from Hero Arts and Penny Black were delivered Friday and they are so wonderful.  Stop in soon and see what's new from these companies.

The new year is here and it’s time to make room for exciting new merchandise so I am having a dramatic sale – everything in the store is 50% off!  Yes, you heard right!  For the month of January you can buy stamps, papers, dies and embellishments for 50% off the regular price!  Please don’t wait because these bargains won’t last.  Hurry in for best selection – your dollars go twice as far during this drastic reduction sale.  This sale is open to everyone – to check availability and for mail order, call Polly at (915) 833-9500 or email to hellopolly@aol.com.   You won’t have this chance again – sale ends on January 31.  The only exceptions to this sale are Copic markers and brand new stamps from Hero Arts and Penny Black.  Thousands of stamps, over 100 Spellbinder dies, thousands of sheets of decorative papers and tons of embellishments are included.

Plus until January 14, our classroom tables will be loaded with Super Bargain stamps and other items selling for $1 to $4.  We’re open every day but Monday so stop in soon.
