Upcoming Classes at The Stamp Act

Hello friends.   Yes it’s been a while since I blogged.  I’ve been busy getting classes ready and checking in exciting new merchandise.  Plus it’s been over a hundred degrees here for the last 2 weeks and more of the same is predicted for the foreseeable future!  That always slows me down and makes me want to rush home in the evening to my much cooler house.

Book-and-cards So today let me share with you samples from upcoming classes.  First, this weekend we will repeat our very popular “Stitched with Love” class.  We had 10 attendees the first time we offered this class and I have just a few spots open for this Saturday’s class.  Please call me to register soon.

Dreams-take-flightSing Saturday afternoon we are “Going to the Birds!”  All the cards in this class have birds as the focal image.  We will be using some seldom used products and lots of techniques to make several lovely cards.  I hope you can join us!  Here are some other samples:

We will be closed Friday through Monday, July 2 through 5 for a little vacation time, but our full schedule of classes continues throughout the summer starting on Saturday, July 10.  Lotus-Frame The saying “Everything old is new again” is often proven true in stamping.  Many of us were sad when Luminarte shut down and we couldn’t get their very popular shimmery watercolor paints any longer.  Fortunately, “Twinkling H2O’s,” are now being produced by another company.  I have ordered four basic sets and on Sat, July 10 at 10am we will be Coloring with Twinkling H2O’s!  In this class you will learn how to use these paints to give sparkle and shine to three original cards then you will discover nifty ways to showcase your painted designs using Spellbinders dies especially border dies.  Be watching the website and the blog for more cards with that very special shine!

Hero-Bird-in-Circle Penny-Black-Mixed-Media Sat, July 10 (2 to 4pm) I have created several cards that have that very popular Vintage Look.  We will use stamps from Penny Black and Hero Arts (see card above left: Circle Bird) and of course lots of distressing!  You can see all the cards by visiting our website at

http://stampactelpaso.com/July2010.html and going to July 10 classes.  The card above right was inspired by one by Tosh on her blog. Here are two other samples:

Die-Cut-Circle-Butterfly The other class I have finished preparing is a Die Cutting Workshopscheduled for Sat, July 24 at 10am.  I have sold a lot of die cut machines recently so I thought a class with hands-on die cutting with your own machine would be a good learning tool for some and “memory-jogger” for others.  I even learned something new while preparing for this class!  Bring your EPIC 6, Wizard or Cuttlebug machine and get a really comprehensive review of die cutting and embossing!   On the card (left) I used Spellbinder scallop circle and butterfly dies and stamps from AMuse.  Check out the cards I designed to showcase various die cutting and embossing techniques at http://stampactelpaso.com/July2010.html.

Just a little side note.  Every time I teach a class, someone makes a comment about learning something new.  Some stampers love buying the latest and greatest, but they really don’t know how to use it.  Other stampers are caught in a time warp of “yesteryear” where they are still using the same, old techniques they learned when they first started stamping.  For a minimal investment of time and money, I guarantee you will learn new techniques with lots of products many of which you already own!  Plus, don’t forget you get a 10% discount on anything you buy over $10 on class day!

Stop in soon and see what’s new in the store.  During these difficult economic times we need your support and loyalty more than ever.  Thanks for stopping by today and please come see us soon!
