Halloween Samples Cards

In my last post I showed you the new Halloween stamps from Impression Obsession; now I can show you some beautiful samples Felicity has made with these stamps.  She is such a good stamp artist!

Candy-Apples-lg      Halloween-Boxes-lg  Candy-Corn-lg

The top left card uses the Candy Apples and Sweet Halloween stamps as well as a bat punch.  Background paper is "Spooky" collection from Memory Box.  The top right card is created with the new Halloween Boxes stamps -- the boxes are outlined with bones!  The background paper is from Making Memories.  The bottom card is made with the Candy Corn stamp -- yes she cut out all those candy corns along the bottom edge!  The border along the bottom is from a Fall Border set that is an excellent buy as it contains a variety of Halloween, Fall and Christmas border stamps.  Felicity made the background paper by punching black polka dots from the Making Memories Black Glitter Dot paper and gluing them on the orange cardstock!  Thanks F  elicity for creating such beautiful cards!

I was busy Sunday making samples for my upcoming Fall Brass Stencil class (saturnday, October 11, from 2 to 4pm).  Let me show you what I made -- all using Dreamweaver Stencils:

Acorn-Corner-2-lg   Acorn-Corner-lg
Both created with Acorn Corner stencil and orange embossing paste

Created with Cypress Tree stencil using a technique I will teach in the class.

Pumpkin-corner-lg   Pumpkin corner, opaque embossing paste and pigment ink stenciled on top

This card was made with another technique I will teach in the class.  I hope you can join us!

I also want to show you the new Stampendous "Winter Trees" clear stamp set and the four cards I made using this set.  I love this set because it includes such a wide range of different types of stamps.  Even though I made four cards, I still haven't used all the stamps in the set.  Take a look and if you like the set, let me know and I will hold one for you -- they should be here this week or early next week.

Stampaction Goes Video

Hi Friends,

Last week I showed you some of the cute candy wrappers that Felicity and Jeri made.  Yesterday, Jeri made another one which is shown here.

Spooky      You may not know this about me but I am a gadget lover!  I have been wanting to make short videos of techniques or projects we do at The Stamp Act so I could add them to our blog, but it appeared that it was so difficult and time consuming not to mention expensive to buy all the gear and learn how to use it.  Then I saw a demo of a new video camera that promised I could shoot a video and upload it to You Tube in just minutes.  I was hooked!  I got the brand new Kodak Zi6 video camera (it's the size of a cell phone)!  I took it out of the box and saw that instead of a thick manual, the instructions were literally a few paragraphs!  I shot a video, installed the software, opened an account on You Tube and uploaded my first video!  It took just about half an hour -- well not really.  I had a few hurdles along the way but really considering the outcome it really was easy.   Anyway our first video is now on You Tube and available for your viewing at this link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kqI_UUhQlg

A big thank you to Jeri for starring in our first video!  Yeh!   I am excited about the possiblities of sharing information with you so please leave me comments and let me know what you think.  Are there other topics you'd like us to video?  Enjoy!

By the way, you can learn more about making these wrappers in Felicity's Halloween card class coming up next Saturday at 2pm.  Here are the cards she will be teaching in that class -- are they cute and colorful!

Speaking of next Saturday, I will be teaching "The Dreams Book" in the morning.  To me dreams are multi-layered and to understand them you have to peel back each layer.  I wanted to translate that concept to my book so I decided to bind the book on all four sides using our favorite tool the Bind It All.  As you look at the book, I hope you will have the feeling of unpeeling the layers of a dream.  The book's pages use alphabet stamps from Stampers Anonymous to spell out DREAMS.  This will be a fun class so if you love collage please join us!  You can see all the pages on our website at www.stampactelpaso.com.

What's New in the Store

This week we got some darling new stamps from Impression Obsession.  Not only are the designs delightful and fresh, but because they are mounted on cling mount, they are less expensive than wood mounted stamps PLUS easier to store!  To use the stamps just pop them on to an acrylic block.  Once done, clean the stamp and return them to the baggie they come in.  Easy!

Here are some of the new Halloween images:

Jeri made this card using the Hallotini stamp.  He also made a pair of earrings using clear shrink plastic.  I will show you those in another post!

Some of you may think the Tower of Halloween Icons is a little bizarre, but look at this colorful card:

Look at these wonderful Christmas images:

Please stop in soon and see all the wonderful stamps and papers we have.  We are happy to answer questions and help you select the right inks and media and to go with your stamps.  Happy Stamping!

Halloween has become one of our most celebrated days as measured by decorating, stamping and paper crafting.  The stamp companies have given us such wonderful images whether your taste is cute, scary, bizarre or just fun!  We have some of each so you’re sure to find just what you need if you stop by our large Halloween display.

Recently Felicity and Jeri created the cutest candy wrappers!  These wrappers are perfect for “treating” a friend with a small candy treat.  Make them any size and use left over bits of paper, small stamps or parts of stamps, and tiny Halloween stickers like Making Memories Halloween Word-Fetti (now at a reduced price of only $1.39).  Look how cute these are!  They open just like a matchbook and inside a single lifesaver or small bag of candy corn (depending on the size) is secured by the staple.

Now let me show you the new papers that came in yesterday.  I will start with the new Making Memories Spellbound paper:

Argyle  Dot-Stripe  Glitter-cro
Newsprint  Pumpkin

Here’s the very scary, yet elegant Cosmo Cricket Haunted collection:

Eerie  Macabre  Gothic

 Nevermore    Ominous  Them-bones

And last but not least is the Scare Tactics collection by Reminisce:

Angry-Jack  Bat-Crush  Eerie-Oak

 Spider-Swarm  Verbal-Creep  Witch's-Way

We have two Halloween paper crafting kits.  Go from 2-D flat to 3-D fabulous with K & Company's new Translucent, Die-Cut Lantern Kit.  It’s fast and easy and makes a special handmade gift, a personal keepsake or stunning home or party décor.  K & Company's kits make your paper crafts pop!

The Halloween Garland from Making Memories makes a very creative home, party or office décor.  Each kit contains 187 pieces including: 13 - 4" black glitter letters; 15 backgrounds; 10 chipboard shapes; 10 buttons; 5 die-cut fan flowers; 5 yards black twine; and 1 sheet adhesive squares.

This weekend you have the special opportunity to learn a very versatile technique that can be used with all kinds of stamps.  Harriet is teaching a class we are calling “Moon Mask” cards.  Learn all about masking and creating backgrounds and foregrounds while you make four very beautiful cards.  For more information go to http://stampactelpaso.com/SEPTEMBER2008CLASSES.html.  Here are the cards you will make in the class:

Bats-Moon-lg  MM-1-lg  MM-2-lg  MM-4-lg

Isn't this a cool technique?  And so versatile -- you can use it with a variety of stamped images.  Here are some additional samples Harriet made using this technique:

Paperbag-Studio-Halloween=l  Trees-Birds-lg

In the afternoon, I will teach a class called “Pet Memory Book.”  You can specify dog or cat for your book.  This is a wonderful book to keep on your own pet, but how special it would be to present one to a family member or a friend for their pet.  I plan to make one for my brother and his wife who cannot say “no” to nay stray cat.  It will be really fun for them to take photos and keep them in this book.  We will bind the book using the Bind-it-All so if you have one and need some training on it, this is the class for you!  Please join us!  For more photos of the pages you will make see http://stampactelpaso.com/SEPTEMBER2008CLASSES.html.

One more sample before I leave you today.  I made this sample using the new Skeleton Scroll Cuttlebug embossing folder.  JudiKins “Skull Tatoo” stamp fit perfectly in the open space and the “Beware” stamp by Amuse expressed just the right sentiment.

New Cuttlebug Embossing Folders

Hi fellow stampers, scrappers and paper crafters,

Yes, it’s been a while since I had time to blog which is a testament to all the exciting new products that are pouring into the store these days.  Before I get to what’s new in merchandise and samples, I want to brag a bit.  Kate Harper, designer of the “Kid’s Quotes” stamps distributed by Inkadinkado, has just revamped her website and dedicated a gallery page to my artwork using her stamps.  You may recall I created a book using her stamps and called it “A Kid’s View of Life.”  Check out the page at http://kateharperdesigns.com/Pages/stamps.html.

Now for "What’s New."  While we have many new products, to me -- and many of you -- the most exciting are the new Cuttlebug embossing folders and combo’s.  These products work in your Wizard or your Cuttlebug and they make such fast and fun cards and page elements that I find them totally addicting!  The new product line covers all occasion cards plus Halloween, Fall and Christmas.  Here are a several samples I made using them.  Let me mention two things:  First, "Combo's" are a set that includes a die that cuts the image and an embossing folder that embosses it.  Second, I want to thank Sue Nelson at Heartprints for her inspiration and ideas.  She does fabulous work and several of these samples were inspired by her samples.

If you like these samples, check out out Cuttlebug Carnival 2 class on Saturday, September 13 from 10am to noon.  We will be making a variety of cards using all the new Cuttlebug products.  For more details go to our website at www.stampactelpaso.com

And speaking of Halloween ... we have some of the most delightful Halloween paper from Making Memories.  Unfortunately Although I ordered the entire Spellbound collection, only one paper has arrived so far.  It's the Glittered Crow and it is so much fun!  Here are two cards I made with this paper:

Crow-nevermoreThis card features the glittered crow that comes on the paper.  Although the paper is 12" x 12", I wanted the borders on my smaller card so I just cut them to fit and adhered them around the border of the card.  I couldn't resist adding the Edgar Allen Poe quote!

This card featured more "scary" crows which I created using the Dreamweaver Crows stencil, black embossing paste and black ultra-fine glitter from Art Institute.  The sentiment stamp is part of the new Halloween 2008 line from

We also received the new A Muse Art Stamps Halloween line this week. Here's a peek at the new stamps:

Halloween-2008 I will post samples made with these stamps soon.
